Chapter 106: What About Me?

Flashback.....
"Come on angel" I said picking her up from her car seat. It was Sunday and as usual we had Sunday dinner with Jason's mother. This was a crazy week because our wedding was Friday and I could really use some time to just relax. I didn't know how tiring planning a wedding was till now. I was getting weaker by the day.
"Seepy ma ma" Harley whined as she laid her head on my shoulder. She played all day with Jason outside and she wore herself out.
"I know baby. Mommy will let you sleep in Gammys bed okay" I kissed her cheek as Jason opened the front door. It was a packed house as usual.
"Aye ma what I tell you bout leaving your door unlocked" he said as she came out the kitchen. The house smelled so good.
"Oh please Vince. Everybody welcome here so ain't nothing to hide" she said as I laughed. She had such a sweet heart. A total different person than we first met. We definitely came a long way.
"Don't let me find it open again" he said as she kissed him quickly and ran over to me and Harley.
"There go gammy baby" she took Harley out my hand squeezing her tight. "Gammy missed her gorgeous girl"she kisses all over her as Harley giggled. She adored her.
"Damn I don't even matter no more huh" Jason said as we laughed. He was no longer the baby in mothers eyes. Soon as she laid eyes on Harley for the first time she fell madly in love.
"Aww be quiet Vince. You know you still my baby too. But gammy love her baby girl" she said kissing Harley who was clinging on to her gammy. They were inseparable.
"How you doing ma" I said kissing her cheek as Jason went off to see his cousins.
"I couldn't be any better baby." She walked into the kitchen as I took off my jacket and shoe following behind a her. This was just what I needed.
"Is that my soon to be granddaughter" was all I heard as I went to grab a plate.
"Yes Mrs. Thomas" I said smiling hard at Jason's grandmother. She was so loving and kind towards me ever since we met. We embraced as Jason's aunt came in.
"Hue!" She said as I gave hug after hug. I loved them all dearly and they gave me so much love. This was a true family.
"Where is my baby" she said as I ate a piece of chicken.
"You know her grandmother steals her as soon as she lays eyes on her" I said as they laughed.
"That's Heather. She spoils that little girl to death" his grandmother said as she walked in.
"Ma you got a nerve. Why you think Vince was so attached to you when he was a baby and still is" she said as I shook my head.
"Oh don't talk about my baby." She defended Jason all the time. Jason was his grandmothers heart. She loved that man so much and he could no wrong in her eyes.
"Aye yall better not be ganging up on my boo" Jason said from across the room. His grandmother and his mother was his life. When his mother didn't have him he was with his grandmother. She took care of Jason growing up just as much as Ms. Heather did.
"I got them baby" she said blowing him a kiss. He winked at her as he went back to his card game. I loved that I was gonna be a official part of this family. We sat at the table enjoying our meal as I ate plate after plate after plate. I wasn't getting full at all.
"Beautiful you still hungry" Jason said rubbing my thigh sitting back in his seat. He was stuffed. Everyone has already stopped eating except me.
"I know I know baby. This is my last plate. I promise" I said grabbing a dinner roll. His mothers cooking was to die for.
"I ain't telling you what to eat. You can eat the whole damn table for all I care" he said as I smiled. Jason never judged me. "Besides its all going to that ass" he said in my ear as I blushed.
"You're so nasty" I said back as got a hold of my chair sliding it closer to him. All I could think was here he go.
"Gimme a kiss" he said as I looked him in the eye. I pecked his lips softly not wanting to give his family a show.
"Come on. I can't get nothing better than that" he said in my ear as I pushed him.
"That's all you goin get" I said as I felt him caress my leg under the table. His hand kept moving higher and higher.
"Jason stop" I whispered giving him the evil eye. He had no chill.
"You don't like me touching you no more" he said grinning rubbing on my inner thigh.
"Imma tell your grandmother" I said smiling at him.
"Go head. She always on my side. So you better be nice" he said making me crack up. Jason kept a smile on my face. I leaned over and kissed his cheek as we heard someone get everyone's attention.
"I just wanna say something to my baby" his grandmother said as all eyes were on her. Whenever she spoke no one made a sound. She had such a commanding sweet spirit and full of wisdom.
"Now Vince you know Grandma so proud of you for the man you are today. I know your grandfather would be proud of you right now" she said choking up. Jason's grandparents were married for 57 years and when he died it crushed her so bad. "When I look at you and Hue. I see me and my Vince. So in love with each other. You adore that woman and it's written all over your face whenever she's around. Baby I know you found you a good woman and now your taking that step and making her your wife. Cherish that woman baby. Love her and hold her every night." I wiped my eyes listening to her as Jason interlocked our fingers. "Don't let a day go by that you don't say I love you. Before my Vince left me the last thing he said was Baby I love you more today than I did yesterday. He is still the love of my life and he lives in my heart" everyone at the table was teary eyed at her words. Even her.
"So Hue baby. I wanna welcome you into the family. Just like my Vince I know Jason will make you happy everyday that you wake up. God bless you sweetheart" I stood up to hug her as she gave me the strongest hug ever. Now this was a family that I use to dream I had. So caring and loving and happy. What could be better than marrying the man of my dreams and his family was just as amazing. I was so blessed.
"Thank you all for accepting me. I love Jason deeply and am so excited to be his wife. I saw how much they all meant to him especially his mother and wanted that type of love for my own family. Jason was a blessing and I would do anything in my power to keep our love and marriage just as strong as his family. That was a promise.

I was in bed watching a movie as Jason slept next to me. He got home from work and was exhausted. After he ate he went right to sleep hours ago.
"Now she is just stupid" I said talking to my TV and pumping some milk at the same time. I put everyone to sleep and now it was my time to relax. I grabbed my chocolate cupcakes and ate one after the other enjoying my night. I was detaching my breast pump when my phone rang. I picked it up seeing it was Jason's mother.
"Yes ma" I said in the phone.
"I'm looking for Mr. Jason Thomas" a male voice said as I sat up. Why was someone else calling from her phone.
"This is his wife" I said back
"I'm calling from St. Andrews hospital. His mother had a heart attack a couple of hours ago and we need to get in touch with her family" my heart dropped instantly.
"Is she okay?" I asked not wanting to panic. I couldn't loose his mother. And how was I gonna tell Jason his mother was in the hospital. He already hated going there and now this.
"She's doing okay. We stabilized her but she needs plenty of rest" he informed me as I felt a little better.
"Okay. I'll let my husband know and we'll be there right away" I ended the call and laid my phone down. I turned to look at Jason. He was so peaceful sleeping. The last thing I wanted to do was wake him up and tell him what I just heard.
"J baby" I said stroking his face slowly. I did not wanna do this.
"Hmmm" he said shifting in his sleep. He was so tired.
"Wake up for me okay. I have to tell you something" I kissed his cheek as he woke up giving me his attention.
"Beautiful you okay? You need me to get you something?" He grabbed his pants ready to fulfill my request.
"No baby I'm okay. It's not about me. Come here" I pulled him in my arms rubbing his back.
"What's up" he said looking at me. It was now or never.
"J I just got a phone call. Your mother is in the hospital" he flew out of my arms before I even got a chance to finish.
"What happened to my mother!" He said raising his voice getting himself dressed. He was so upset.
"Baby calm down for me please okay. She had a heart attack but she's okay" I said as he paced back and forth. I stood up grabbing his hand as he tensed up.
"J look at me baby" he was checked out. All he heard was his mother and hospital in the same sentence and was threw.
"If something happen to my mother Hue I swear Imma fuck that place up. On my grandfather. I'm not bull shitting" he was so angry but I knew he was because he was scared.
"Baby nothing will happen to her. She's fine. Relax" I said softly to him
"What you mean relax? My mother had a heart attack and you saying relax. Nah fuck that" he said pulling away from me.
"Jason I'm just as concerned as you but I don't want you to get all worked up." I said trying to put words together carefully.
"Man whatever." He said as I frowned up my face.
"You think I don't care Jason. I care all most as much as you do" I really did.
"That's my mother. Not yours" he said as I backed up. I took a deep breath.
"Jason I know she your mother. But she is my mother too. I love her like she gave birth to me." I understood that he was hurt and I didn't wanna start an argument. Now wasn't the time.
"Like I said that's my mother" he put his shoes on as he looked for his keys.
"J I don't wanna fight okay. Let me get myself together and we can go" I said getting up out the bed
"No. You stay here with the kids and I'll go. I don't have time to wait on you" he said walking out the room.
"Are you serious? I'm not gonna sit here when she needs us. I'll only be 5 minutes." I said trying to stay as calm as possible. I went to get dressed when I heard the front door slam and his car drove off. He really left me. This was a lot for him to take in I thought. I didn't wanna take it personal but I guess I was gonna have to just wait and see.

2 day later......
Jason's mother was doing much better and she really gave us a scare. Both Jason and I wanted to keep a close eye on her so she stayed with us until we felt she was okay. Even though she said she was fine countless time. It was not her choice anymore.
"She's not your mother" was all I kept thinking about. Idk why but I couldn't get that out my mind. All day I would hear that over and over. Jason apologized for being so harsh with me and he said it was because he was scared. His mother was his everything and I understood that. It was water under the bridge. But why did I keep replaying what he said to me in my head.
"Hue.....Hue" I jumped out my trance hearing my name as I saw his mother sitting at the table.
"I'm sorry ma. What you need" I said giving her my attention.
"You called me for breakfast. I can take over if you need me too" she said as I looked down seeing the food. 
"Oh I'm sorry ma. Here you go" I gave her a plate as I made her some tea. I laid everything out for her as I went back to clean the kitchen.
"You okay sweetie?" She asked as I gave her a smile.
"Yes. I'm fine ma. Your the one I'm worried about." I said going to sit with her.
"Hue I'm fine. I had one heart attack an everyone treating me like a baby. I'm okay" she said as I laughed.
"Ma do you hear yourself. A heart attack is serious. I was so scared." I said to her.
"Baby I'm not going anywhere. It happened and now I know I gotta relax and take care of myself. That's it" she was so strong and took whatever happened to her like cake. That's where Jason got his strength from.
"Okay ma but I still got my eye on you" I said kissing her cheek as she laughed.
"And I got mines on you" she said as Jason came downstairs.
"Ma did Hue give you what you wanted" he said being overprotective
"Good morning to you too" she said as I laughed.
"I'm just making sure you getting treated straight. That's all ma" he gave her a kiss as I stopped wondering why he said that.
"Why wouldn't she get treated well" I said to him. Idk if he was serious or not.
"I was just joking beautiful." He said as his mother looked at me.
"Oh" I said turning the sink off. I was taking everything to heart he said since the other day. Call me crazy but I felt like he was trying to make it known she wasn't my real mother.
"Hue come eat breakfast with me and your husband" she said as Jason sat down. I wasn't even hungry anymore.
"Ummm I'm okay. Imma go check on the kids. Jason I made your plate and just leave your plates on the table I'll get it when I come back" I said feeling uneasy.
"You sure you don't wanna eat" he said to me as I gave him his food.
"No. You guys have fun" I walked away going upstairs. Maybe I was just overthinking things.

"Ma ma" Haley said as I folded the laundry.
"Yes baby" I said paying her some attention
"Can me have ice cream" she asked making me laugh. My girls had a sweet tooth like me.
"You sure can. Let mommy finish this and we can get some ice cream pretty girl" I kissed her lips as I put our clothes away. I checked on Jae who was taking a nap and picked up Haley as we headed down to the kitchen. Jason was in his office and his mother was in the guest room relaxing.
"Okay baby. Come sit with mommy" I said as she cuddles up with me on the couch. We fed each other spoon after spoon watching cartoons. I always loved spending time with my girls. Harley came and joined us and not soon after we ate every single drop.
"More ma ma. All gone" Haley said as they both licked their fingers.
"After you have dinner mommy will let you have some more. Deal" I said as they held on to me.
"Yes" they said as we watched TV. I was so relaxed until Jason came out his office.
"Hue its 6. You ain't start dinner yet. You know my mother can't eat late" he said as I laid the girls down on the couch. 
"I lost track of time J. I'm sorry" I was getting frustrated because he was acting like I was paid to take care of everything. Ever since his mother came I was no longer his wife. I was here to help. But I just wanted to keep the peace.
"I'll just go grab something" he said waiving me off.
"Jason I said I was sorry. I'm going to make dinner now okay" I was trying my best to not go off.
"Aight" he said going to sit with the girls. He played with them as Jae started to wake up. Jason ran and for him as he whined. His mother came down and say with them on the couch.
"Hey what's wrong with Gammys handsome baby" she said taking him from Jason.
"Beautiful warm his bottle up" he said as I had 10 things in my hand. Still I said nothing. I simply emptied my hands and did as he asked.
"Here" I said giving him his bottle as he fed him. I finished dinner as I made everyone's plate. The girls say in their chairs as I poured drinks and sat down. I said grace and soon as I picked up my fork Jason interrupted me.
"Ma you want some water" he said as she got her pill bottle.
"I can grab it" she said as he stopped her.
"Hue can you her some water" I dropped my fork and got up. He gave her 2 pills as I sat back down. I stayed quiet the entire time. As we ate his mother kept looking at me as I avoided her stare. She knew me like the back of her hand but I didn't wanna stir up anything in my house.
"Hue I hope it's some cake in their" she said smiling at me trying to lighten the mood.
"I didn't have time to make a cake ma but I got you tomorrow" I said as I heard Jason suck his teeth. It was like I had to be perfect all of sudden. I knew his mother deserved whatever she asked for but what about me.
"I'm just kidding honey. Imma make your favorite chocolate cake tomorrow Hue. I know how much you love that" she said to me.
"You don't have to do nothing ma. You here to relax. Hue got it." He said as I got up and snatched my plate off the table. I was no ones maid.
"Okay girls. Mommy's gonna take your plates." I took the dishes and threw them in the sink. "Go wait in your room so mommy can give you a bath" I was so tired and fed up. Jason was way out of line and he knew he was wrong for treating me like the help. They ran upstairs as I tossed the food in containers angrily.
"Let me help you" his mother said.
"No it's okay. I'm the maid around here so everyone just relax. I'll take care of everything" I said at my breaking point. She rubbed my back as I just broke down.
"Aye what is your problem" Jason said coming over to me.
"What's my problem. Jason you're my problem." I said facing him.
"I'm not goin argue wit you in front of my mother. She ain't here to hear that" he said as his mother shook her head.
"Vince your wife is hurt. I saw that the minute I came in This house but I kept quiet." She said looking at him.
"Hurt? Over what" he said clueless
"You know what. You clearly don't care so let's drop it. I still have to clean up and out the kids to sleep. In tired" I said exhausted
"No. Tell your husband how you feel sweetheart. Nothing gets done when we keep quiet." His mother was always the voice of reason
"J I know that your mother is not my mother it don't take a idiot to know that. But I don't have a mother of my own so I gave her that title. If that's a problem for you idk what to tell you but that really hurt my feelings" I said honestly.
"I apologized to you for saying that. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry" he said running his hands over his face.
"I accepted your apology but you giving me orders like you pay me is uncalled for. I can't sit down for one minute without you saying do this or that. I have no issues taking care of the house and kids while helping your mother but you forgot that I need to be taken care of too. Jason I'm exhausted. I barely get any sleep because I'm trying make sure everyone's needs are met. I'm human just like you. Don't talk to me like I don't love you and need you. That's not how you treat me" I poured my heart out. We were far from perfect but sometimes we had to reel each other in.
"Baby I was wrong. I wanted everything to perfect for my mother. She all I ever had and she made sure I never had to want for nothing. I got carried away and took my fears of losing her out on you. She's just as much yours as she is mines as she is mines. Forgive me for taking advantage of your heart and not making sure my baby was straight." He kneeled down in front of me as I nodded my head. Jason's heart was always pure but sometimes the way he did things came out the wrong way. Our marriage was a learning experience everyday and nothing was perfect. But no matter how hard it got I never thought about leaving this man. Never.
"I forgive you" I said kissing his forehead.
"I love my mother so much but you my heart beautiful. You got all rights to check my ass" he said hugging me tight.
"Oh I know I do. I love you forever" I said kissing his lips.
"I love you always" he said as we kissed slowly. I put my hands up his shirt as he ran his hands to my ass. I bit his bottom lip as he licked my tongue pulling back.
"Aye ma. Go upstairs" he said as I laughed.
"Alright. I'll leave my babies alone. I love you both" she kissed us both as Jason pulled me in the direction of our favorite little spot.
"How do you deal with me" he said locking the door.
"I ask myself that same question. But you know what. My love for you out weighs the many times and I mean the manyyyy times I wanna smacks the hell outta you" I said making us both laugh. I loved Jason deeply but he could use a smack across his head once and a while.
"I deserve that" he said standing in between my legs.
"And I think I deserve a couple things" I said undoing his pants.
"Oh yeah" he said taking my shirt off.
"Yep. First I need a kiss" I said as he grabbed my face kissing me deeply. I held on to him tight as I moaned in his mouth. His lips were powerful.
"Mmmm. Okay. Next I need you to tell me you love me" I said to him

Much" he said staring in my eyes.
"I love you too." We kissed again as I almost forgot my list of demands.

"I want a gift too babe. Maybe jewelry or some shoes. But it's up to you" I said caressing his face
"Anymore request" he said smiling at me.
"Just this" I said with my hands in his boxers. He was more than ready.
"You sure you can take all this" he said pulling his boxers off. He was so blessed in that department.
"I been taking it all this time" I said kissing his chest.
"Imma have to start switching it up on you" he said making me laugh.
"Hey I don't have no complaints" he laid me back positioning himself to enter me.
"That's cause I'm a beast" he said pushing inside me hard.
"Mmmmmm you are baby. You are" I said getting a tight grip on his arm. He pushed inside me getting a smooth rhythm. He laid his head in my neck as he whispered sweet things to me.

"Beautiful wake up" I felt Jason rub my back as I grunted out.

"Nah Imma let you sleep but we gotta go" he said feeling on me as I got confused.
"Go where. J it's almost 3 in the morning. Go back to sleep" I laid back down with the covers over my face. I just wanted to rest.
"Get up beautiful. I'm taking you somewhere. It's a surprise" he said kissing my cheek over and over.

"Idk what to put on and look at my hair" I said attempting to dive back in bed.
"Put on anything beautiful. Come on. We gotta go" he said as I dragged myself to my closet. All I had on was a thong. "Move a lil faster sexy" he said smacking my ass repeatedly. I laughed trying to find something. I noticed some of my stuff missing and my suitcase was gone out of its spot. 
"J where is my stuff" he was up to something.
"Will you come on and stop asking questions" he said standing in the closet watching me.
"Idk what you're up to but I'll go with it" I said removing my thong. I stood there naked picking out my clothes.
"I should wear this" I said bending over finding my favorite jeans.
"Stand up and put some clothes on. You throwing my plan off" he said as I laughed.

"Hue come man. Stop." I stepped into his personal space wrapping my arms around him. I got close to his ear licking all over it.

"Got damn baby" he watched me as I did my job. Idk what he had planned but I was ready for whatever he had in store. Jason was full of surprises.
