Chapter 40: Happy Birthday

Today was Jason's birthday and me and the girls wanted to surprise me when he got home from work this evening. Usually on his birthday I would take him out of town for a romantic weekend but things we're kinda different. We had 2 little girls. And it was nothing romantic about having a toddler and a 3 month year old in bed between you and your husband. But it was okay. I enjoyed this more anyway. I would get my romance time with Jason when they went to sleep.
"What color do you want daddy's cake to be angel" I said cradling Haley in my hands layering his red velvet cake I baked.
"Tink!" She said as she stood in a chair reaching the counter.
"Pink. Nooo daddy hates pink. How about his favorite color" I said testing her memory skills. We drilled certain information in her head daily and she loved screaming it every time we got out in public letting everyone know our business.
"Bue!!!!" She said as I smiled.
"Yes my angel. How you get so smart" I said kissing her as Haley made loud playing with her hands.
"What you tryin to tell mommy baby. I'm listening" I held her up as she smiled showing me her deep dimples. She just drooled all over me with her hands in her mouth.
"Your mommy's pretty little mama" I said kissing her little lips. I let Harley ice the cake as I wrapped Jason's gift. I brought him a new gold watch and I wrote him a heart felt letter. He hated when I brought him anything so I had to sneak and get it.
"Where daddies girls at" Jason said coming in the door. I quickly put his gift in the draw as he came around the corner.
"Happy Birthday baby" I shouted out to him. Harley jumped in his arms as she gave him her card she drew him.
"Da da me made dis for you" she said as he lit up. Anything she did for him was like a piece of heaven.
"Aww princess. Thank you. Daddy love it." He said giving her a big kiss. He read the card as I noticed he didn't look so good. He went over to Haley's bouncer picking her as she sucked his face.
"She giving you her gift I guess." I said as we laughed. I took Harley and brought his cake out with her help.
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you happy birthday to daddy happy birthday to you" we sang as I lit the candles. He looked so surprised.
"Blow da da blow" Harley said as he leaned down with both of them in his arms. He blew out his candles as Harley cheered.
"Jason you ain't make a wish" I said cutting him a piece as he sat on the couch. He had them both on his lap.
"I don't need to. I got everything I want already" he said winking at me making me blush as I joined them.
"Harley come sit with mommy so daddy can eat his cake" I said to her with our plates. She held on to his arm not wanting to go. When Jason had her she didn't wanna let go for nothing.
"Ok well I'll take your sister then" I said as he stopped me.
"Nah I got them. Harley can you feed daddy" he said as I left them going to get his gift. I ran to the kitchen retrieving his watch and letter. When I came back it was cake all over the sofa the floor and their clothes. I shook my head making a mental note to clean that up after they went to bed. I never made a big deal when they made a mess. They were kids that's what they were suppose t do.
"Here" I said handing him the bag taking Haley from him.
"Beautiful how many times did I tell you not to buy me anything" he said looking at me. He was so stubborn.
"I know but just open it" he pulled the letter out first
"Read that later on tonight" I said as he smiled. He put his hand back in the bag pulling out the shinny gold watch. He smiled big. Jason had a love for watches and he had a collection of all different types.
"Let me put it on you J" I said putting around his wrist. As he smiled. He got so much joy from them damn things.
"Thank you baby" he said kissing me softly. I went to pull back but he kept it going. We kissed so passionately never getting tired of each other's lips.
"Da da. Tiss for me. Tiss tiss" Harley said breaking us apart. She was definitely jealous when Jason anyone a kiss other than her.
"I got you princess. Daddy have kisses for you" he said kissing her "for my other princess" he said kissing a sleeping Haley " and for mommy" he said pecking my lips. He was in high demand in this house. We ate dinner and ate more cake as it got late.
"Okay bed time" I said cleaning up the table
"Imma get them ready for bed" Jason said as I looked at him. The whole time we ate he looked sick or tired. Idk what was wrong with him.
"Babe. Come here" I said as he walked to me. "Are you sick" I said feeling his forehead. He was burning up.
"My head been killing me all day and my body feel funny" he said as I got worried.
"Jason why didn't you tell me this before" I asked getting him some water.
"Beautiful you know I don't complain. It's probably just the flu or something" he said as I shook my head.
"The flu. J the flu isn't that something to play with. You need to rest baby" I said watching him drink all the water. "Go straight to bed and I'll be up there to when I put them to sleep" I said as he didn't move.
"Baby I'm not goin let you do all that by  yourself. Imma help" he said not listening. Usually we put them to bed together.
"Jason not tonight. Go upstairs baby okay" I said stroking his face
"You sure" he was getting warmer by the minute
"Positive" I said kissing him as he finally took my advice. I grabbed Harley and Haley taking them upstairs. I bathe them both getting them ready for bed.
"Okay now what do we do before we go to sleep" I said to Harley with Haley in my arms. They were both clean and dressed in their pink princess pajamas.
"Pray ma ma" I said sitting on her bed with her.
"That's right angel. We always wanna tell God thank you for what he did for us today. God gave daddy a birthday today and aren't you happy for that" I asked her rocking a fussy Haley on my shoulder. 
"Yessss!" She said as I smiled. She loved her daddy.
"Okay now what do you wanna thank God for tonight" I said as we held hands
"For da da And baby and you and cake" she said melting my heart. I couldn't see myself without being a mother. This was so rewarding.
"Ok repeat after mommy" I said as she shut her eyes " thank you God for mommy and daddy" I said as she repeated "and for Haley" I said as she said it too.
"And cake ma ma" she said making sure I didn't forget
"and cake. Amen." I said laying her down pulling the covers over her. 
"Good night my angel. Mommy and daddy love you very much. Your so special baby" I said to her before I kissed her goodnight. I always told her she was special every day to build her confidence. Love started at home and I didn't want her to grow up like me without and looking for it in the wrong place. I hit her lamp as I walked out closing her door.
"One down. One more to go" I said goin into Haley's room as she continued to fuss. She liked me all to herself.
"Okay ok Haley Mommy is all yours baby" I said laying her across my chest as I sat in the rocking chair. I rocked back and forth slowly as she looked in my eyes. She was so precious.
"You want me all to yourself huh baby" I said to her as she smiled. She held her stare with me as she rested her little hand on my chest. Her eyes were getting heavy as she dosed in and out. I hummed softly rocking her gently. This is how she would always fell asleep.
"Mommy and daddy loves you baby. Good night" I said quietly getting up laying her in her crib. She was out and I didn't wanna wake her. I hit her music box and lamp as I headed out to tend to my sick Jason.
"Awwww my baby" I said as I saw him sweating in bed. I went over to the medicine cabinet grabbing my thermometer. 
"Open your mouth baby" I said taking his temperature. "101.7" I said reading it off.
"I'm so hot and my body aching baby" he said as my heart broke. I never liked seeing him like that.
"Drink some more water" I said holding the cup up to his mouth as he drank it. I got a cool rag wiping his head trying to cool him down some.
"If your temperature doesn't go down in the morning Imma taking you to the dr" I said as he sucked his teeth. He hated hospitals.
"Why when you can take care of me here" he said as I laughed.
"I can and will baby but We're still going if you don't feel better tomorrow" I said pulling some of the covers off him. He tired to move up on his pillow but I could tell he was in pain.
"I'm sore as hell" he said as I helped him giving him more pillows for his head.
"Tell me where it hurts Baby" I said standing up. I wanted him to feel better and not be in any pain.
"My legs the most" he said as I sat in front of him taking his legs massaging them gently. I ran my hands up and down each one.
"Let me know if I'm being to hard on you" I knew when your body aches that the slightest Touch could feel amplified.
"That feel good beautiful. Thank you" he said as kept on. I still needed to shower and get myself ready for bed but my family came first. I put my needs to the side to take care of them cause I knew it was me he would do the same.
"Do you want some tea or something" I asked him
"Nah I just wanna sleep. That's it" he said exhausted. I knew he worked so hard that he probably made himself sick.
"Okay. Get some rest Imma go shower. If you need me just yell. Imma leave  the door open baby" I said getting up taking my clothes off wrapping my towel around me.
"Can I have a birthday kiss" he said as I laughed. He never was too sick for a kiss.
"Yes you can J" I walked over to him giving him a long sensual kiss.
"Now go to bed. I love you birthday boy" I said covering him with a thin sheet. I didn't want him too wrapped up. 
"I love you too" he said closing his eyes. Everyone was taken care of and put to sleep. Now it was time for me to relax and unwind. I couldn't wait get in that tub. I was going to pamper myself with a hot bubble bath. I earned it.
