The library was almost deadly silent, only few sneezes from time to time could be heard from time to time because of the dust in the air. And also the quiet rustling of the leaves when people crouched down at their books and computers, most of them maniacally working on their graduating projects.
You sat at the back of library, just next to the shelf full of fantasy books, your nose buried in the newest Dedicated Detective Dexter novel. Suddenly, feeling someone looking at you, you raised your head and looked around, but not noticing anything out of the picture, went back to reading.
The boy behind the shelf sighed relievedly and pushed his dirty blonde hair off his eyes, leaning forwards a little, so he could take another look at you and see you smiling at the especially funny part of the book.
He chewed nervously on his lower lip, mentally arguing with himself over coming to talk to you. He had been doing that for a week already. Saw you coming to the library where he worked and wanted to talk with you, but always chickened out somehow.
Sighing, he went back to his desk, and since there was no one at the moment who wanted to check books out, he started reading his own. Actually, he was only reading it because he saw you reading it few days ago.
You came almost every day, and always with the new book. He tried to keep up and read everything you did, so one day, when he would actually talk with you he caould talk about the things you liked.
He was so engrossed with the book, he didn't notice you standing before him so you coughed to catch his attention.
"Yeah, what do you.....want...." he trailed off, seeing you there with the book.
"I was wondering if you had "Looking For Alaska" by John Green, you grinned at the blushing boy. Sure, ge was cute, but he was only a boy so you weren't really fazed about his looks or anything.
"Umm.....s-sure, gimme a moment," he mumbled and ran off between the shelves. You tapped unconsciously your foot against the fllor and hummed softly, looking around until your gaze landed on the desk and you saw one of your favourite books there.
"Here, 'got it," boy mumbled quickly and dropped the book on the desk, scanning it to check it out.
"Thanks," you grinned and he blushed even redder, and so you were gone again.
Getting home after a walk, you got into a comfy chair and started reading. It wasn't a very long book so quite soon you had finished half of it, when a ghost-it-note catched your interest.
It was sticked in a middle of the page 123 (I think) under the sentence: "Will yoi be my girlfriend?" On the note someone had written in messy handwriting.
a) yes :)
b) look at the a ;)
c) no :(
You grinned and rolled your eyes, it was such a stupid way to ask someone out, but nevertheless you grabbed a pen and rounded one of the letters, writing a small answer at the end of the note. Then you started reading again.
The next day when you went to take the book back, you didn't see the boy behind his desk, so you just dropped the book of there and went on to the shelves. After few minutes a head popped out from behind the corner and looked around to see if it was clear, swiftly moving to the table and grabbing the book.
He brushed through the pages until he found the one with the note stuck on it. You had rounded the 'a' with a small heart and scribbled your phone number on it. Boy's mouth curved into a victorious grin and he muttered a small "yassss!" beneath his breath.
Then he turned pale because he realised he would actually have to talk with you.
Oh boy.
It was gonna be so good.
And funny.
Real fun.
At least for you.
For him not so much.
It would be embarrassing.
