GreenR: ello! Once again I have no idea who made this request, but whoever you are, I hope it's okay.

Law: one day all the people you have forgotten will come and have their revenge on you for that.

GreenR: and why do you think I'm putting up those zombie traps right now?

Nami: the ones who are coming ain't zombies

Law: she's right

Nami: there is much higher probability of skeletons.

You tapped your foot nervously against the grey and slumpy sand, smelling the salt from ocean and getting quite impatient already. Your crew had dropped you off on that island few days ago, so you could spend some time with your daughter before heading off again. Little princess was seven already, and you saw her less and less over the time. The next time would probably be in few years, by that time she wouldn't even remember your face. But that was still better than rising a child on a pirate ship, where her life would be in constant danger and where she would have to fight every day harder than ever, just to stay alive. No matter how nice your crew was, no matter how much you wanted to be with her, sea was calling and you couldn't make her wanted outcast like yourself.

Sighing, when you finally noticed the white sails appearing on the horizon and picked your bag up, slowly walking by the edge of water towards the meeting place. You didn't like hurrying. What was the point of it? No matter if going fast or slow, you would end up in the same place. Sometimes you hated sea, hated to love it. The way it's moods were constantly changing, from stormy and dangerous to sunny and safe. But every time the ship appeared you went with it nevertheless, and always came back. Always wearing more scars, more wounds. Over a year ago, your hair had also turned silvery grey, making you look older than you really were. What can I say, risking with your life once a day before breakfast and twice on Sundays was taking it's toll on you. but it was fucking worth it.

You grinned wildly, reaching the ship and waved at the crewmates. Benn was already waiting at the railing for you, and as you climbed up, and your grin faded, noticing his worried expression. Benn always had to worry. With a captain like yours, who was ready to die for you, but not see if you had enough food and water, someone had to be the adult and take responsibility. That didn't mean nobody respected cap, the other way around. He just dealt with fighting and leading, Benn as the first mate got worrying part. But it wasn't like him to make face like that. He never showed his worry, no matter what. It would have just made the crew worry and you definitely didn't want that.

"What is it?" You stumbled onto the deck and threw your bag down with a thump. Few metal boxes with medical supplies you had bought at the town clanked together loudly. "Is someone sick?" if it was so, you felt even guiltier about your little selfish trip, since you were the crew's only doctor. You just hoped the things weren't too bad.

"You could say so," he guided you towards captain's room and opened the door. Room was dark and filled with shadows, almost as hot as a rainforest in summer. You sniffed the air and felt rustic scent of clotted blood and stinging pain in your nose from medicine. "Captain went and got himself into a little trouble in Goa." Dear god, did he ate those mushroom's again? You had told him over three thousand times not to eat everything he saw walking or growing around him, but did he ever listen? If you answered no to this question, you have won a prize for correct answer. He never listened to your warnings, it was almost as if he liked sitting in the infirmary.

In a moment you had reached next to the bed where Shanks was sleeping. Noticing the bandages you pushed the blanket off his chest and gasped when you saw the missing arm. He was burning up in fever, skin covered in sweat and his breaths were shallow and short, he barely seemed to breath at all. Frightened, you controlled the pulse and breathing. Still alive. and staying alive if you had a word in this argument with death.
