Sabo munched on a sandwich with a face that promised great trouble to anyone who knew him. And quite possibly to those who didn't know him too. Just trouble, in a big plan. And maybe few explosions. God, he loved blowing things up, and most of the time he even remembered to apologise later.
"Sabo?" Koala threw a spoon at him, missing him by great shot and almost hitting Dragon, who was far too sleepy to notice. "You are scaring people."
"I was just thinking,"
"Exactly. Scary. What happened?" Koala shivered as if to show she was scared.
"How do you propose to someone?" He started playing with a butterknife and stealing glances at the side door, as if waiting for someone.
"Do I look like someone who gets proposed to a lot?"
"No. I mean, yes? Of course," he stuttered and stared at her with big begging puppy eyes. She pointed her nose at the sky and tried to look relly mature while drinking her tea, but that just looked weird. She didn't know it, she was just trying to look like a good teacher.
"Oh well, since you asked so nicely... girls like romantic stuff,"
"Romantic like what?" He furrowed his brows.
"Like a nice dinner or so. Preferably where it's just you two together," Koala teached and watched as the dummy scribbled everything up on a napkin, "can't you just memorize it?"
"Better not. So, what else?"
"Usually there's the ring too, but you can use something else," she got a confused look from him, "preferably jewelry."
"Okay, and that's it?" He grinned, that seemed simple enough.
"Yeah, after that just ask her and that's all," she shrugged and got up from the table, "my watch starts now so see ya later. I'll give my regards to Y/N later,"
"Why would you do that?" But girl just waved and walked away. In the hall she met with really sleepy Y/N, who was still shivering in cold. Her watch had just ended, and it was freezing cold outside, so she felt like a human popsicle
"Hey Y/N,"
"K-koala-c-chan," your teeth clattered and small ice pieces fell off your hair.
"Nice weather, huh?"
"Wonderrrrful," you kept stumbling towards the kitchens, hoping to find something warm to drink. When you got inside, you saw Sabo sitting alone at one table and muttering somethingby himself. You went closer and was able to make out your name from the mumble, but nothing else. "Hiya S-sabo," you stuttered and crawled close to him, "it's so cold outside I think my ass froze off."
"Eh, really?" He stuffed something from the table into his pocket and turned to you, hugging you. "Wouldn't that be just a terrible loss?" His body temperature was always high now thanks to the Mera Mera no Mi, but if he wanted he could be a real human-sized heater. Like now.
"That's what I'm saying," you yawned and moved a bit, nuzzling even closer to him, "no, I can feel it now. It's still in the right place."
"Great, now, if you're warm again, can I ask you something? It's kinda important,"
"Sure," you shrugged and let go of him for only enough time to get some food to nibble on. "What is it? If it's about getting a puppy, you know that we live on a ship and-"
"No, no puppies, I know. So, I wanted to know if...um, you know, we could go for a dinner tonight? On the island?" He was ready to mentally and physically bury himself for the lamest invitation he had ever given you. Okay, maybe not THE lamest, since nothing tops the first time he asked you out, but that's another story.
"Uh, okay? But I gotta go get some sleep, I'm falling over," you got up from the bench and shook yourself like a dog, small clumps of almost melted snow falling off. "And get a shower too,"
You managed to sleep-walk to your room and stand almost two minutes under a steaming shower, before falling over into your bed and starting snoring. But those were light and snoft snores, not the elephant snores guys make. You snored really elegantly like a lady. Which you were. A lady. At least 49% of the time. Like sleeping time.
When you got up about five hours later, it felt like your head was stuffed with cotton pillows and your nose hurt. Your whole body felt hot, and you felt like turning over and fainting.
"Y/N?" Sabo knocked on the door, "are you there?" He walked in and looked at your curled up state. "You okay?"
"No. Yes. Pretty much," you sneezed loudly and shivered, when the cold air hit you.
"That's no then. Wait here," he was gone for few minutes and came back with few more blankets, hot tea and (just favourite sort cookies. I like coconut and chocolate chip ones, what about you?)
"Y-you're an angel," you muttered while he took your temperature. And while you ate. Because eating right stuff makes your immune system stronger. And cookies are good.
"Meh, tell me something I don't already know," he checked the temperature. "42.78. You're not moving an inch from that bed," (for those who use Fahrenheit system: fever was 109.004 degrees. But your body was already used to the high temperatures, so you just felt a bit dizzy and sweated. And it was cold.)
"Yessir," you mumbled and leaned back, shivering. "Can I have a hug? It's cold." He shrugged and crawled next to you in the bed, making the room warmer in an instant. "Good. So what was it you wanted to ask me tonight? I mean, you can still ask it, even though we couldn't go."
He mumbled something really quickly, not really answering and jumped up, pacing forth and back. Finally he grabbed something from the table and fell on one knee in front of you. You furrowed your eyebrows, thinking of what he was doing now. He couldn't possibly be-?
"Will you marry me?" He reached his right hand towards you and you out a chuckle. You pressed your lips into a tight line to hold laugh back and asked very seriously:
"Sabo, is that a scone?" He looked at his hand for a second and nodded horriedly.
"I forgot the ring," his voice was barely a whisper. Eyes big in shock, he mumbled something and jumped up, pacing the room again.
"Can I still say yes?" You chewed on the scone.
"Yeah!" he grabbed your arms and pulled you in a hug that almost strangled you.
"Good, 'cause I'm gonna say it. Yes, I'll marry you," you hugged him back, burying your head into his jacket.
"It was a good scone. But I still want the ring too," you mumbled, grinning.
"yes ma'am,"
