You waddled happily along the wet street of Water Seven, only stopping to get into one of the passing boats. The ride was quite long, but you enjoyed Sun and the warmth it brought with it. You also loved the way it made usually so dark and gloomy water in the town sparkle like turquoise. A quite dirty turquoise, but still.
You leaned your chin on your hands and looked around happily. It hadn't been that long since you moved here, only a couple of years and this town still managaed to amaze you. It was so beautiful. The way old traditions melted into mess of clockworks of machines was so gorgeous, it made your heart skip a beat. Or more than one beat.
You were so engrossed in it, you almost missed your stop. Waterbuses were always so quiet, you barely noticed them moving.
Walking off the boat you happily waved at the man who was rowing it and he smiled back. Recently you felt like no matter whom you ralked to, they always smiled at you and had a kind word for you. Just like you did for them
Maybe it was because you were pregnant. Not sure though, just a guess.
You continued your quest to the port, happily humming by yourself and on your way stoping to admire the windows of the shops around you.
It wasn't like you absolutely needed to go to the port, but your husband had forgotten his toolbag in the morning and you knew he needed it later. And you liked walking, so it wasn't even annoyance. Walks are cool.
"Hiya," you waved to Kaku after reaching the port and he looked up from the plans he was trying to balance on a pile of wood to read them. His face lit up in a happy smile, but it changed into a worried expression almost immediately.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?" He stepped to you, hugging you lightly and pecking your cheek.
"You forgot this," you raised the bag you had been carrying and he took it from you, putting it away while lecturing you about not straining yourself too much. Good lord, one day he was going to think you were a glass doll who got tired when she breathed too much.
"Sweetheart, I'm pregnant, not dying," you said patiently, rolling your eyes.
Before he could answer you noticed Iceberg and Paulie walking up to you and grinned at them, waving happily. They got weirdly quiet, trying not to stare at your belly, that looked like you had swallowed a small planet. Or a moon. Moons are usually smaller so moon. Or a moon's moon.
"Okay, same to both of you," you placed your hands on your hips and pursed your lips. "Yes, there is a bun in that oven. No, I am not dying. Can you please stop acting so awkward now?" Both of them laughed awkwardly and you nodded at it, satisfied.
"Lo," Katerina speeded next to you and hugged your belly. She squealed happily and mumbled something about it being a nice pillow, while Kaku stared at her suspiciously, ready to scare her away any minute.
"That reminds me," Katerina looked up at you, "has he kicked already?" You nodded proudly and she placed her palm on your tummy, waiting for a kick.
"It only happened few times so- oh," you felt it and she let out an amazed gasp. "Yea that was it, whole show. He doesn't do much else now." You leaned against Kaku's side and he slided one arm around you.
"Did it really kick?" Paulie was interested and scared at the same time. Like he was waiting for a small satyr to crawl out of your tummy and eat his eyeballs.
"He, not it. And yes,"
"Uhm, can I, you know," he was awkwardly mumbling.
"Wanna get kicked too?" He nodded and let him touch it. Wow, pregos are so cool. Sure, they are moody as hell and so, but they have a small human inside them. Well, usually. Isn't that just the greatest miracle of life?
"Can't feel anything," He said after a minute and you shrugged.
"Sorry, he did kick for anyone else. Maybe it's just taking a little longer this time,"
"It's hard for the little guy to perform under pressure," Kaku apologised and you heard Katerina snorting from somewhere lower level.
"Top ten things Kaku said on his wedding night," she kept chortling and your dear husband turned beet red. Wait, aren't beets little purplish? Let's say, what are red.....red as a strawberry? Not really, but close enough.
"Woah," Paulie gasped, "it was small but I think I felt something," and from the corner of your eye you saw Iceberg trying to hold back a smile.
"Top ten things Y/N said on her wedding night," he said, this time making you giggle too.
"Don't laugh at it," Kaku was little pouty at it. And still red. Have I mentioned how red can human actually be? If not, then the answer is 'really red'.
"Top ten things Kaku said on his wedding night," everyone said in unison and you giggled along with them a bit. Even Kaku smiled at last.
Time skip-skup-skop-skippie
On the evening you had already comfily curled up on a couch, Kaku by your side. You were reading a book, mind lost deep between the pages. You only raised your head when you felt someone staring at you.
"What is it?" You closed the book, leaving your finger between the pages as a bookmark. "And if you say nothing-"
"Nothing," he grinned and leaned against your shoulder, tired from long day's work. "Have I told you I love you?"
"Not in last five minutes you haven't," he kissed the side of your neck and left his face there.
"I love you," you grinned and let him slide his arms around you so you could be comfier while reading.
