Chapter 1: The Watergirl

AMITY'S POINT OF VIEW:

Dillenna Heera and I have been the best friends for all my life. I was able to understand all her decisions and choices throughout those years but not... NOT RIGHT NOW!

She is a beauty queen, the counterpart of Albert Einstein! Now tell me and make me understand for once, why would she do everything to be the basketball team's water girl?

I'm totally clueless right now. Hindi ko talaga siya papansinin! She's just so disconcerting! It's been a week since she told me about her plan and I still can't understand her.

"Hi Heera!"the girls in the hallway greeted.

She forced a smile and faced me again while we walked on the hallway towards our classroom.

"Amity! Talk to me! Ano ba?"pangungulit niya sa'kin.

"Heera! You look great!"a girl from another circle shouted as we passed through them.

I halted. My little brain's trying to analyse what she just muffled. Ugh! She's bored? That's it?

Nilakihan ko siya ng mata. What's she trying to avenge at Matt? For all I know, they were just dating a few months back.

Napatitig ako sa kanya habang nagsasalita siya. I can see both the pain and wrath in her beautiful eyes. Ba't hindi ko alam ang lahat ng 'to? Iba ang sinabi niya sa'kin! She told me she dumped him—why did she do that?

"I'm sorry. I lied."she automatically apologized as if she has read my mind.

"Why did you do that?"

"I was trying to... Ugh! Amity, it was a test. It was just a test of how serious his intentions were towards me. I was expecting this to happen, you know, him and that Jannica dating. Hindi ko sinabi sa'yo kasi nahihiya ako sa'yo. You have these high expectations of me but... those guys don't!"

"That's fudge! Kung gusto mo naman pala talaga 'yong sira-ulong 'yon? Ba't hindi mo nalang sinagot?"naiinis kong bulyaw sa kanya.

Nakakainis naman talaga diba? Muntik pa akong magmura. I hate people who cuss. I don't want to hate myself. Thanks for the word 'fudge' though.

"Because I knew his kind. I wasn't wrong though. But I just can't watch him smiling all the time with his tremendously charming eyes and perfectly-sculpted cheekbones while I have myself jittery everytime I see him! That's not so me!"

I rolled my eyes at her. Sira-ulo din talaga 'tong si Dillenna. Nakakapagtaka minsan kung paano ako naka-survive sa kanya sa loob ng 17 years! And that Bryce? Oh? He's one of the most charming guys I've met my whole life. But I'm not into him! Eww! But I once said to Dillenna that I like him SO MUCH because she kept badgering me with Liam. God. Not Liam Kan! He grimaced and handed me the book. Nang tingnan ko siya, nagpipigil siyang matawa.
