Chapter 44: The Married-Couple's Adventure V5.0

DILLENNA HEERA'S POINT OF VIEW:

Tonight is going to be the last night of our stay in England. Currently, we're on our way to Lambeth for the renowned Coca-cola London Eye. 'Yan ang hinding-hindi ko papalagpasin habang nandito ako. By far, it's one of the top destinations I always wanted to visit before. Saglit na umalis si Theon dahil may kakausapin lang daw siya. Standing alone and belittled by the giant ferris wheel, I enthralled my eyes of the very scenic view in front of me. From behind me, someone handed me a red rose.

"Oh, you're so sweet Theo—"napaatras ako nang isang hindi pamilyar na mukha ang bumungad sa'kin. "Who are you?"

"Oh. I'm really nobody." He said and chuckled. "I have been watching you from there for few minutes already and I've reckoned you also are a Filipino, am I right? Have you known?" I frowned in response to him. "You're the most beautiful woman here tonight."

I gave him my coerced smile while he's flashing me his full-out smile. Sira ba 'to? Hindi ba niya nakitang may kasama ako?

"I—I suppose you're here with somebody. I guess I just have to go. But..."he hesitated. "Uhm... Can I have a picture of us? Just one shot."

Hindi man lang niya ako pinasagot. Hinarap na niya ang phone niya for a selfie. Nang ibaba niya ang phone niya at humarap sa'kin, I saw Theon standing behind him. Sinundan ng lalaki ang direksiyong tinitingnan ko. Lalo lang akong nagulat sa ginawa niya.

"Hi. Can you take a picture of me and this beautiful woman?"the guy asked Theon.

Like WTF! Seriously? Akmang aawatin ko na sana 'yong lalaki, but to my surprise, nginitian siya ni Theon at saka kinuha ang phone nito.

"Sure."

Tumabi sa'kin 'yong lalaki. Napaigting ako ng bigla naman akong inakbayan ng praning.

"Bloody hell!"Theon shrieked as the phone dropped. Kinabahan ako ng sobra nang apakan pa niya ito. "Sorry man. That's what happens when you ask a husband to take a picture of you and his wife."saad niya at saka ako hinablot palayo sa lalaki.

Lilingunin ko sana 'yong lalaki ngunit nagsalita naman si Theon.

"If you look back, I'm killing that jerk."

Hindi ko alam kung bakit ako natatawa sa kanya. However, I chose not to laugh and followed him silently. He booked a private glass capsule for the two of us two days ago. Pagpasok namin ng Cupid's Capsule, tiningnan niya ako ng masama.

"Theon." I poked him. Hindi nagbago 'yong masamang tingin niya. "Baby—"

"Dillenna, sa susunod na may lumapit sa'yo, can you tell them I'm your husband? Can you fucking tell them you're married to the most-handsome guy in the world and that there's none-like-him? Gagawin mo 'kong kriminal eh."

Napatawa ako sa sinabi niya. Alam naman nating lahat na ayaw niya ng tinatawanan pero hindi ko talaga mapigilan eh. Galit siya tapos nagawa pa niyang ipagyabang ang sarili niya.

"What? Why are you laughing? Am I not the most handsome creature in your eyes?"

Nakakatawa talaga siya. Hindi man lang nagbago ang seryosong ekspresyon ng mukha niya. I have the cutest husband in the world. I'm one lucky wife.

"Oo na. Ikaw na ang pinakagwapo, wala kang katulad at walang hihigit sa'yo. About that one, lately, I'm sorry. I was caught-off guard. I thought at first he was you—"

"No! You didn't say that. Akala ko ba wala akong katulad tapos sasabihin mo'ng napagkamalan mo siyang ako?"pagdadabog niya na naniningkit ang mga mata.

"No. That's not what I meant. Wag na nga nating pag-uusapan 'yon, magseselos ka lang eh."

"Hindi ako nagseselos. Galit ako. Hindi lang sa lalaking 'yon. Halos lahat ng lalaki napapatitig sa'yo. Pwede ba kitang lagyan ng sign saying I own you?"

"Seryoso ka ba talaga?"I asked and laughed at him.

"Tinatawanan mo 'ko ah!"Hinila niya ako at niyakap ng sobrang higpit.

"Theon, hindi ako makahinga."

"Dillenna, wag mo silang pansinin please. Para akong sasabog kapag tinitingnan mo rin sila eh."mahinang saad niya. "Wag mo kong iiwan, D."

The great and funny thing about this iconic ferris wheel is it moves at a glacial pace. At times you can't tell if you're still or in motion. It's good thing for people who have fear of heights. You might not want to know what view we're watching right now. It's none of the London sceneries. We're simply staring at each other after a very romantic love-making.

"I love you babygirl."he whispered lovingly while his soft hand caressed my face.

"I love you, babyboy."

With him hugging me from behind, we looked out to see the grandeur of London from above. It's breathtakingly heart-stopping. Although I haven't really wandered all the places I love in England, the memories from the London Eye and that night simply completed my stay perfect and worthy-to-be-cherished.

"This is it. This will be the last night and we'll head back home. I must admit, I miss home so much."I confessed while we both are under the covers and are about to sleep.

"Hmm. Ako, ayoko pang umuwi. Gusto ko 'yong ganito, 'yong tayo lang. Walang nanggugulo sa'kin. Wala akong kaagaw ng oras mo. Palagi kang nasa tabi ko."malambing na wika niyang nagpalambot ng puso ko.

Napatitig ako sa mga mata niya nang sabihin niya 'yon. I'm certain. It's not my imagination working, it's what his eyes are revealing. There is sadness and pain that his eyes avow. Ang I'm scared again.

"Is something wrong Theon?"

Hindi siya sumagot. Hinagkan niya ang noo ko at saka ako niyakap.

"Matulog na tayo, babylove."

Hindi na niya ako pinakawalan sa yakap niya. Kahit pilitin kong makatulog ay walang nangyayari. May bumabagabag sa'kin. I knew it. There is something wrong. Habang nakatuon lang ang mga mata ko sa city lights sa labas ng bintana, bumabalik sa'kin ang mga piraso ng puzzle na pilit kong binubuo.

Palagi siyang tinatawagan ng mga magulang niya't pinapauwi. And the last visit of his mother...

"Ako ang gagawa kung hindi mo gagawin."

"Mom. Just give me another week."

Kinabahan ako. It's already a week after that incident. I felt scared, even worse than the fear I had when I got kidnapped. A tear fell astray from each of my eyes. Ano'ng sasabihin ng mommy niya na hindi pa sinabi ni Theon sa'kin? What's waiting for me back home?
