Chapter 31: The Pain

Dillenna Heera's Point of View:

From crying so much, I had fallen asleep. Hindi ko alam kung ilang oras akong nakatulog. But it was so dark outside already. I decided to go out and find Chase.

"Ate Heera, finally, you're awake."salubong ni Ellie sa'kin na walang kangiti-ngiti.

Napakunot ako ng noo. She seemed so tensed. Inilibot ko kaagad ang mga mata ko sa silid. Kusang kumunot ang noo ko nang maramdaman kong kami lang dalawa ni Ellie.

"Are you looking for kuya?"nakabusangot na tanong niya.

"Is anything wrong Ellie? Where is he?"

"Yon na nga eh. He just disappeared. But while I asked something to him earlier, he just ignored me. He's so quiet. He seemed bothered. I don't know."she confessed as she sat down on the couch.

I was thinking about calling him but I remembered I don't have my phone.

"Can you give him a phone call?"I asked her. Lalo siyang napasimangot.

"I already did, ate. He wasn't answering."

The room was filled with silence and my mind wandered somewhere.

"I hope you won't mind, ate Heera. But... Did you and kuya have a fight?"tanong niya na hindi ako tinitingnan sa mata.

"No. No."I immediately replied.

"Well, he only acted like this when he's having a fight with his girl. Siguro naman, you already know the story of ate Jewelle—"

"Jewelle? Who's Jewelle?"

She covered her mouth and shook her head.

"Oh—you meant that girl in his paintings."I said when the image of the beautiful woman appeared on my mind. "Who is she?"

"Didn't kuya Chase tell you?"

Clapping her hands, she batted her lashes as she looked at me.

"I really like you, ate Heera. We have a lot in common, don't you notice?"she said and chuckled. "I'm only kidding. Haha. Little Mermaid, here she is." She muttered as she started playing the movie.

My eyes are pierced to the flat screen but my mind is wandering off somewhere.

Ano na kaya ang nangyayari sa kasal nila? What does her gown look like? I was supposed to be the one to design it. Iyon 'yong napag-usapan no'ng mga bata pa kami. I'm the designer of her gown. Tapos, ako 'yong maid of honor. Ang saya-saya siguro ni A ngayon. Si Theon kaya? Did he wear the white tuxedo or the black one? Could it be grey? Gaano kaya kalaki 'yong cake nila? Sino kaya ang maid of honor niya? Sabi nga niya di ba? She promised me, there'll be no one else but me.

"Nakakaiyak talaga 'tong part na 'to."I heard Ellie murmuring. "OMG! Ate! You also cried in this part!"she exclaimed as she brushed off the tears from her eyes.

Nagpatuloy siya sa panonood habang nakapulupot ang mga kamay niya sa bewang ko. She's still sniffing. Ramdam na ramdam ko ang maiinit na luhang naglalandas sa pisngi ko.

Siguro ang saya ng kasal nila, unlike ours. Gulong-gulo ang isip ko no'n. Tapos, galit pa ako sa kanya. Iniinis niya ako at no'ng magkiss kami—Right. Sure thing, they kissed. Of course, silly Dillenna! They did. They even did something beyond that, remember?

"Ate Heera? Are you okay?"Ellie suddenly asked, awaking me from my trouble state. "It's not the movie that made you cry, is it?"

"My ex-husband is marrying my bestfriend."wala sa sariling nabigkas ko.

"Oh my God. No..."sambit niyang nakahawak pa sa bibig niya.

When she recovered, she encased me in her arms. Habang humahagulhol ako sa balikat niya, lalong humihigpit ang pagyakap niya.

"Ate... That's awful. I'm so sorry."

"No. It's alright. You know what..."I paused to wipe the tears away. "Your brother's right. They already have stopped hurting me. Ako lang 'tong patuloy na nananakit sa sarili ko."

Wala na silang pakialam sa'kin. Wala na silang ginagawa. Ako lang naman 'tong patuloy na nag-iisip sa kanila kaya ako nasasaktan ngayon. Tama nga si Chase. I have to stop myself. But when I went down to bed, I cried another tears. I just can't stop. When I have decided earlier to stop from hurting myself and to stop this foolishness, I haven't thought that I'm going to stop breathing as well.

I have realized that for the past few weeks, pain has become my life.
