Chapter 18: The Hard-to-get

Dillenna Heera's Point of View:

Waking up today is like a miracle shouting at me. Think of it, I was able to live with him for a week already. Bumangon ako ngunit hindi ako bumaba sa kama. Dumapo ang tingin ko sa couch. He's no longer there. For our first seven nights since the wedding, sa couch ko siya pinapatulog.

"Dillenna, my friends are coming today. Is it alright with you?"he asked, standing on the doorway.

Since our last argument, hindi ko na siya kinakausap. Hindi ko siya kinikibo. Nagpapanggap akong hindi ko siya nakikita. Hindi ko alam kung bakit niya parin ako kinakausap gayong alam niyang hindi ko rin naman siya sasagutin.

Ang mas nakakainis pa... I've just known yesterday that the very day after the wedding, mom and dad flew off to Japan for their one-month Christmas vacation. I can't believe what they have done to me. What they did is clearly a betrayal, isn't it?

What Theon did next was beyond my knowledge and anticipation. I haven't noticed him drawing to me. Kaya ng hawakan niya ang kamay ko ay hindi na ako nakapalag.

I slipped my hand off his hands and stood up to ignore him. Nagmamadali akong bumaba para pumunta sa garden. I just really hate him. I'll do everything to avoid him. I'm still on the doorway when I saw his friends walking towards me while Lucy is still closing the gate behind them.

"Good morning Heera. How's the married life?"bungad ni Bryce.

"Fine."

"We didn't have the time to talk at your wedding. Anyway, congratulations. Nice choice of house. It's cool."komento pa niya.

"Thanks. Are—are you guys going out somewhere?"I asked, out of curiousity.

"No. Theon asked us to stay here all day. "

"Ah. Okay. He's inside. Pasok kayo."

"Sure thing. Thanks Heera."

Maingay silang pumasok sa loob maliban kay Matthew na nakatayo parin sa harapan ko. Napalingon ako nang magsalita si Gavin.

"Heera, ano'ng endearment niyong dalawa ni Theon?"

Sira –ulo talaga 'tong taong to! Inirapan ko nalang siya. Nagtawanan pa ang mga gago saka tuluyang pumasok ng bahay.

"You look different. You look stressed."he remarked afterwards.

"Yes. Right. It's stressful... depressing."

"I'm sorry about what happened on your wedding. I didn't mean to—"

"Matthew. You did nothing wrong. It's not your fault."

Ngumiti siya saka nagsalita ulit.

"I'm glad to see you. I hope you're okay."

Napalingon ako sa likuran ko nang dumapo ang tingin ni Matt sa dakong 'yon. Standing behind me with his infamous poker face is Theon.

"Matt."

"TJ."Matt replied.

"Excuse me."paalam ko sa kanila at dumiretso na sa flower garden.

It's just so nice of Theon to choose a house with a garden and a tree house. I haven't really wandered around the entire house. Ito palang 'yong lugar apart from our room na nadiscover ko. I don't know what else I can see in this house.

Ang lungkot ko lang talaga ngayon. Gusto ko sanang puntahan si Amity. But she also is out of the country with her family. Sad life.

"Hey."

I looked down from the tree house and saw Ayden. He's smiling at me.

"What?"

"Can I join you?"

What's this jerk thinking? We're not even friends.

"Why?"I asked.

He chuckled and started climbing to the tree house.

"Ice cream. You want?"he offered when he reached the terrace of the tree house.

"Thanks. I'm fine. Ano'ng kailangan mo?"

"Wala. Kukumustahin ko lang ang asawa ng kaibigan ko."

"Eww. You're weird. It's so awkward. Do you know it's our first time talking to each other?"

"I know, right. Ako naman talaga kasi ang pinakatahimik sa'min."pag-amin niya.

"Whatever. Lahat ba talaga kayong magkakaibigan, mga conceited? Don't bother answering me. Birds of the same feather flock together."

He chuckled again. It's so unusual of him. Among them, he's really the silent one in their circle. Nakapagtataka lang, ba't ako kinakausap nito? Di naman kami magkaibigan.

"Nag-away ba kayo?"mayamaya ay tanong niya.

"Kailan ba kami hindi nag-away niyang kaibigan mo?"

"Heera. Everything has changed already. He's your husband now, he's not just the annoying school mate you see in school everyday."

"But he's still annoying. Kahit kailan talaga, hinding-hindi kami magkakaayos niyang sira-ulong kaibigan mo. Ang kapal ng mukha. Wala siyang kwenta—"

"Enough Heera. He apologized. Didn't he deserve your forgiveness?"

"Never—Teka nga! Ba't ka ba nangingialam?"

"We're his friends. He's worried about you. Just like you Heera, he's also scared to face the life you have now."

"Just go back inside Ayden. Nothing will happen even if you'll talk to me all day. I now know nothing but hate him."

"Si Matthew parin ba—"

"Come on! It's not a new thing to you, pareho kaming dalawa ni Theon na walang nararamdaman sa isa't isa. My past doesn't matter at all."
