Chapter 25: The Wife's Gift

Dillenna Heera's Point of View:

It's been twenty minutes since I went down the basement to prepare things. If he won't notice or if he won't bother that I'm no longer at his side and read my note, all my efforts are vain. Whatever. At least, I tried!

"Dillenna? Honey? Are you down there?"

Shi—This is it. He's already here! Lalo akong kinabahan.His hair is all messed up. He rubbed his eyes for a lot of times and then looked around.

"Am I dreaming?"

I chuckled. Lumapit siya sa'kin at hinawakan ako sa beywang.

"What's with the candles in your secret library? Aren't you afraid they'll burn the whole place?"he joked and started kissing me.

I'm scared but I didn't tell him this time. I just let myself drowned by the sensation of his touch and kisses. This time, I'm sure. I'm certain and even if I'm scared, I'll take the risk. In the first place, he's my husband... and... I LOVE HIM.

I was lying on his chest as I was playing my fingers with his hands.

"Dillenna."

"Hmmm."

"Why?"

I looked up to him.

"I thought you're cheating because I can't do my responsibility as a wife—"

"What?" he angrily blared and stood up. "Damn! What have you done Dillenna! I would never cheat on you just because I can't make love to you! And I would never cheat on you ever!"

Napaiyak ako habang tinitigan siya. I can't help smiling. He's so furious. His eyes can't hide it. I can see his face and ears reddened even with the dim light the candles around us offered. To my surprise, he punched the bookshelf! No! Not them! I ran towards him and hugged him from his back.

"Theon, stop it."

"Dillenna. You're hurting me."he said when he faced me. He's crying! "Gano'n ba ang tingin mo sa'kin? Mahal kita Dillenna. Kaya kong maghintay kung kailan mo gustong ibigay sa'kin yon—"

"If that's what you're so furious about, Theon, hindi ako napilitan. I willingly did it because I love you and I'm so scared. I love you, Theon."

Kitang-kita ng dalawang mata ko ang sunod-sunod na luhang nag-unahan sa pisngi niya bago niya ako yakapin ng kay higpit.

"Happy Birthday, love."I whispered in his embrace.

"What?"

"What's what?"I chuckled. "Honey, it's January 6! It's your day."

He blushed. "Thank you baby. You're the best gift I have ever had. Thank you for making this birthday the best among all. I love you Dillenna."he muttered and kissed me again. "Did I hear it right? Can you say it again? Please?"

"No way. Walang ulitan sa bingi."

Niyakap niya ulit ako and then rained kisses on my face. He kissed my eyes, my nose, my cheeks. But his kiss stayed on my lips for a long while.

"I love you Theon." I whispered.

Before I closed my eyes to go back to sleep, I took another glance at my husband and realized how much I want to be by his side forever. Everything that has happened in my life now is everything I will never regret.

"BABYLOVE... GET UP."

Ugh! I still want to sleep.

"Baby... Male-late na tayo sa school."

Bumangon agad ako nang marinig ang sinabi niya. Oh shiiiii—fppt! Automatically, my hand reached for my phone to check the time. It's nine already! Binato ko siya ng unan. Tinawanan ba naman ako!

"You're so cute! Do you really think I'll let you go to school today after what you have done this morning?"nakangising wika niya.

What have I done? Oh! Right! When I moved my legs to stand up, it hurt there so I went back to bed instead.

"You'll be fine, love. I'll take care of you. What about a breakfast in bed with your handsome husband?"he suggested wearing a grimace on his lips.

"Hindi na lang ako magrereklamo sa kayabangan mo dahil birthday mo ngayon. And the breakfast in bed sounds so tempting. I'm really hungry."

He gave me a quick peck on the lips before he went out. Everything this morning seemed to be perfect. But honestly, I haven't known it will be this painful. I've anticipated it will hurt but not like this. Afterwards, he returned with his promised breakfast in bed.

"Happy Birthday, Theon. Where shall we go today?" bati ko ulit sa kanya matapos niya akong subuan.

"Hmm... I just want to spend the entire 24 hours alone with my wife."

"Piece of cake. Granted then!"I cheerfully exclaimed.

"Kanina ka pa thankyou ng thank you. Tinulugan ko na 'yang katagang 'yan kanina. Pagkagising ko, 'yan parin?"asar ko sa kanya saka niya pinisil 'yong ilong ko.

"Aww! Stop it Theon, pinagawa ko 'yan. Madi-distort pa 'yan. Nga pala, pakikuha nga ng box sa ilalim ng kama."

Sumunod naman agad siya. He's smiling widely at me as he opened my beautifully-wrapped giftbox to him. I really don't know what to give him. For my sake! He's a billionaire! He's got everything! He kissed my forehead when he has eventually opened the box. He engaged the batteries to the DSLR camera as well as the memory card. I just watched him gracing with the simple things he does. I got engrossed gazing at his beautiful face and I didn't notice him capturing pictures of me until I heard the sound of the camera shutter.

"Hey! Stop it Theon. I haven't even washed my face!"

"That's one reason why every girl envies you. You wake up beautiful everyday. You're always beautiful Dillenna. You're more beautiful with your adorable flaws."

"Here is Mr. Arrogant flattering his wife." I rolled my eyes.

"Maganda ka naman talaga. Halos patayin na nga ako ng tingin ng mga lalaki kapag magkasama tayo. You don't feel it because you never care."

"Ewan ko sa'yo. Binobola mo lang ako. Kumain na nga lang tayo. Feed me, quick!"

After the breakfast, nagsimula ng tumunog ang doorbell namin. While eating lately, we have just talked about letting nobody interfere our day, not even his parents. We turned off our phones and locked the gate as agreed.

"Theon, baka si Nanay Lucy 'yan!"napaisip ako bigla na ikinalaki lalo ng mata ko. He laughed at my face.

"Can you make that face again? You're so cute! Hahaha." I pouted at his words. He cupped my face and kissed me. "Stop pouting. It's making me want to bite you. Anyway, next week pa darating si Nanay. Don't worry. Basta for today, no breaking of rules. It's just you and me today."

Pinauna niya akong umakyat sa tree house. Sinalubong agad ako ng mga naggagandahang mga bulaklak. There are even petals scattered on the floor. I'm a real-life princess living in the wonderland. It's just so elegant and perfect!

"Theon. Ba't ba ako ang sinusurpresa mo? It's your birthday, not mine!"I retorted and laughed at the same time.

"Don't you like it?"

"Are you kidding me? It's so fab!"

He really doesn't have to decorate the place because we're just going to play scrabble this morning. He challenged me. What can I do but take his challenge? We took pictures of us before we started our battle of words.
