Hey, remember my last Headcannon thing called "KrakenKid and the Broadsword?" Welllll, I had the temptation to write a comfort Fic off of it and wrote this. Instead of giving it its own book, I figured putting it in here might be easier given it was off of a headcannon in this book.
Anyways, enjoy!Third Person
Right outside the gates of the palace, KrakenKid was alone. Normally even being this close to the palace and out in the open was dangerous and the guards would come running, but today was different. Today, the Atlanteans actually needed him.A hacker was in Atlantis, and they spared no one. It just started out with glitches in the systems but soon, it turned to technology turning against them, machines sparking and information getting taken. There wasn't any way to tell who was doing it either, so since the Tide Changers and Atlanteans were both suffering, a team up seemed reasonable.
Right now they were supposed to be in Professor Pikalus's lab looking for them, but something about the palace being compromised led them right back there. Of course, the penguin didn't trust him enough to even let him in so he was stuck outside, like a dog in a car.
KrakenKid huffed, leaning against the wall, silently fuming to himself. "We totally trust you enough to work together!" He spoke in a high pitched and mocking voice. "Come within ten feet of one of the most important things in Atlantis? No thank you! Why don't you wait outside? Sheesh... He didn't have to lie to my face... Freaking penguin." He mumbled and started to glance around. "How long does it take to check a palace anyways?"
The four guards, two within the gate and two outside of it, all stared at him, giving a weird look. KrakenKid spared a side glanced, eyes narrowing down. "You gotta problem with me?" They quickly avoid his gaze and the kraken smirked to himself. "That's what I thought."
Fortunately for him, the Atlanteans soon started to exit, rushing out of there. He sighed deeply, standing up straight. "Finally! What was taking you so long?"
"Sorry KK!" The hybrid snake person was first to reply, racing down the steps and to his side, giving a little smile. "We were getting everyone out of there and grabbing a couple of things. The library was kinda busy, lots of kids need to do a report or something?" She shrugged lightly. "I don't really understand most of it. I guess it was important."
"No need to freak out, we're here." Cody murmured. "We were just getting some things! With this hacker guy I didn't want to risk the Atlantean weapons." In an instant, Cody took out the broad sword and examined it with sad eyes. "It's kinda all I got left of him anyways..."
But KrakenKid didn't hear him. His yellow eyes were fixated on the sword and he got lost. His heart beat increased, not just by seeing it, but the fact that Cody was the one holding it. His breathing hitched and he couldn't stop himself from backing up. Professor and Tanith both noticed before Cody did. Professor didn't get it at first, giving him a weird look on why he was freaking out, but Tanith did. Her eyes widened but she didn't react fast enough.
To KrakenKid, the scene shifted. No longer in Atlantis, but instead back at the Conch Command and up on that ledge again. Cody stood in front of him again, eyes turning an electric blue and overflowing with a power that KrakenKid had never seen on him before. Cody screamed something that he didn't catch at that moment. His gaze was focused on the sword. He could feel the same pain he felt before, echoing back at him even though Cody hadn't struck him yet. His gut felt like it was being torn apart and his heart and mind spun out of control.
"No! N-no! S-stay away from me! Please! I don't want to die!" He wailed desperately. However, this version of Cody in front of him didn't care. Hatred burning in his eyes, he raised the sword. He was going to kill him. His tentacles froze and he fell to the ground.
Tanith watched as KrakenKid began to freak out, his body dropped to the ground but he still tried to back up, his many tentacles scratching helplessly at the rocky floor beneath him. He started to screech, pleading for Cody to spare him even though Cody himself was frozen in place. She quickly rushed to the kraken's side, snapping in front of his face to check on his responsiveness but he didn't seem to see her.
She had seen this before, and admittedly, it had happened to her before as well. KrakenKid couldn't see that everything was normal and Cody meant no harm. No, he could only see a memory. Most likely, from the way he was acting, right before Cody killed him. He was stuck back in his own nightmare.
"Cody! Put the sword away!" She ordered but kept her eyes on the Tide Changer. Cody quickly realized his mistake and did as he was told. He wanted to help, guilt seeped into his heart but he couldn't seem to move. Or say anything for that matter. As Tanith did what she could to help, he decided to let her do it. Something told him that not only did she have experience to do it, but that he would only make it worse.
Tanith cupped her hands around his face and spoke softly. "Hey. It's okay. I got you."
In KrakenKid's eyes, Cody was still in front of him, ready to strike but he could hear her. The voice that calmed him and made the whole scene flicker for a moment, but only for a moment before panic set right back in.
Frowning, Tanith softly began to wrap her arms around him, pulling him into a hug. "You don't have to be afraid anymore. Cody isn't going to hurt you, Professor isn't going to hurt you and me? I'm definitely not going to. I'll protect you, don't worry. Everything's going to be okay."
This time, not only he could hear her, but she appeared in his flashback. Now, standing between Cody, the broadsword he was holding and him, she was covering his stomach, the very place he was stabbed in. The warmth of her was strangely comforting. Tanith was holding on to him for dear life, like she was scared of letting go and having him fading away. Slowly, but surely, his heart beat started to slowed to a normal rate. He actually felt kinda... Safe?
The vision wasn't gone. Not yet anyway, but it did flash between reality and the nightmare for a moment, making him blink. It was getting hard to tell what was and wasn't reality.
"Focus on me." She pulled away but put her hands on both sides of his head. KrakenKid did for a while, but his eyes drifted over to the penguin, who was frozen in the state of about to plunge a sword into him. "Hey." Tanith spoke sternly as she noticed his wandering gaze. He snapped back to her and just stared at the blue eyes in front of him.
"You aren't in the past, you're here now. You aren't in danger, but safe. You don't have anything to worry about." The Tide Changer's flashback was faltering, but still lingered. Fear was still within him. "I know it feels like you're back there and in trouble and in pain, but you aren't. Believe me, I've been there. But KK," She smiled. "You're okay. You're going to be okay. I got you. I got you and I'm not going to let go. I promise I'll keep you safe."
Suddenly, it melted away. The coral and Seaweed around him turned into marble houses. The giant shell turned to a gate leading to the palace. Finally, the menacing penguin just looked horrified and was completely unarmed. Tanith was right, he was okay.
And he was going to be okay.
KrakenKid fought against the tears coming to him but Tanith soothed him. "It's okay. It's okay to let your emotions out."
So he did. Tears dripped out of his eyes and he squeezed them shut, wiping them away as they flowed down his face. Tanith gave him another hug and this time, he hugged back.
There wasn't anything to worry about. Not anymore.

WOOOO! I DID IT!
I'm actually pretty proud of how that turned out! Dangggggg!I should have updated Sea Serpent today, but then I realized I wouldn't finish it in time for tomorrow so hence, the One Shot! Sea Serpent Chapter 35 should be up tomorrow! (Hopefully... Depends how long I take.)
I decided to use Tanith to do it because Cody trying to calm him down while KrakenKid is in the state that he was in just didn't seem like it would work that well. Kinda hard to calm down when your killer is talking to you, you know?
Anyways, I hope you liked this little Comfort Fic! I honestly love Comfort Fics, they're an awesome mix of feels and fluff! Be sure to comment your thoughts and goodbye!
