In Sunny’s room PaRappa and Sunny were looking for something.
“Ahah! Here it is!” Sunny pulled out a PaRappa CD. PaRappa was on the cover looking in a mirror quite curiously.
“Oh It’s a CD. Heh! He does look like me!” PaRappa said amused.
“This was a part of his adventure songs series. This is a special april fools edition where the second half of the CD is only sung by PaRappa. Even the teachers parts. That’s the explanation for the cover. He’s singing to himself,” Sunny explained.
“Oh. Can we hear it?” PaRappa asked.
“Uh, sure,” Sunny said. She actually didn’t want to hear it because she was afraid she would start to cry. These songs actually happened. Despite this she placed the CD in her boombox anyway. It started playing.
“Hayatatata! Kick! Punch! It's all in the mind. If you wanna test me, I'm sure you'll find The things I'll teach ya is sure to beat ya, But nevertheless you'll get a lesson from teacher. Kick,” Chop Chop Master Onion started.
“...Kick,” PaRappa said.
“Punch,” Chop Chop master Onion commanded.
“...Punch,”
“Chop,”
“...Chop,”
“Block,”
“...Block”
“Once more now!-” As the song was going on both Sunny and PaRappa sat awkwardly next to each other on top of Sunny’s bed. Sunny looked she was about to explode, and PaRappa was thinking deeply about the song itself staring at the floor.
“It’s very… interesting,” PaRappa commented twiddling his thumbs. Sunny just wanted the song to be over, and said nothing. She remembered PaRappa trying to impress her with his new found karate skills. It was really derpy because he had only been doing it for one day, but Sunny still congratulated him though. She remembered when PaRappa got hit with a truck during a joy ride in his dad’s car and they all got launched into space. She remembered when PaRappa was alone with her on her birthday. That was a long time ago, and he looked pretty edgy. Ha edgy. Sunny remembered 1 year later when PaRappa told her about what actually happened that day. They laughed about it. They laughed.
Sunny wished she could laugh about things with PaRappa again. She wished she could drive with PaRappa again. She wished she could go to the movies with PaRappa again. Those happy memories were so dramatic and heavy on her now. She tried so very hard to keep from crying. The song was over now so Sunny walked to the boombox and took the disk out before another song played. “How many songs are on that CD?” PaRappa asked.
“I have no idea,” Sunny said vaguely. She did have an idea, but she really didn’t feel like checking it.
“Are.. you ok?” PaRappa could tell Sunny was acting odd. Her sweet smile from before was gone.
“*sigh* No,” Sunny said honestly.
“What’s wrong?” PaRappa tried his best to handle the whatever it was delicately.
“PaRappa was a real good friend of mine, and he passed away just a few months ago. That song really brought back some memories,” Sunny explained.
“Oh! I’m so sorry. I wish there was anything I could do to help,” PaRappa honestly couldn’t think of anything to do to comfort her. He just met her, he didn’t want to be insensitive.
“I think I just need some alone time is all. I’ll see you later oK?” Sunny said cracking her voice at the very end of the sentence.
“Ok. I hope you feel better,” PaRappa said going out the door.
