You are lying in your bed. You're not doing anything, you just thinking about Kaneki. You wonder if he is alright being a ghoul. You contemplate getting someone to help him but you're unsure if it would do any good. You don't really know if you're okay having a ghoul as a younger brother, either. There isn't any WikiHow's on the Internet - you've tried.

Early morning light breaks through your thin curtains. You cover your eyes as if your denying the fact that it's morning. Nevertheless, you peek over the covers and make eye contact with the evil sun light.

"Maybe Kaneki will be able to eat one of those sandwiches I make for breakfast before he runs off to college," you whisper to yourself, knowing Kaneki won't hear you. Secretly, you hope Kaneki will be able to eat the sandwich although you're more than certain it's a lost cause.

You get out of bed and slip into some comfortable clothes and dash into the kitchen. You get everything you need out - bread, lettuce and cheese - and begin to construct a sandwich of some form. It feels like a building site as the bap swings to and fro from your shaking fingers.

"Morning," Kaneki says sleepily as he emerges from the darkness of his bedroom. He doesn't look tired; his eyes are bright but lidded and his skin looks clear although it's not the same fair colour as it was previously.

"Here!" You say, passing a beautifully made sandwich to your younger brother. He reluctantly takes it out of your hand as if he had a strong feeling you had poisoned it.

"Remember," Kaneki points to his mouth, "human food tastes foul to me." You pout and Kaneki gives in, taking the sandwich from the plate. He brings it closer to his mouth and takes a small bite.

He drops it on the ground as he covers his mouth and runs to the bathroom. You sit there, eyes wide open, as you hear Kaneki throwing up. You continue watching the bathroom door whilst listening to his continuous coughs that are quickly followed by another chest full of vomit.

"I'm sure it does taste nice," Kaneki says as he walks back into the room, wiping his mouth with some toilet roll. He looks at the tissue in disgust and grabs another tissue from the bathroom.

"No, I'm sorry, Kaneki," you say, looking down at the ground, "How about I make you a coffee?"

"It's okay, (Y/N), I'll make it myself."

For the first time in you're life, you feel entirely useless to your brother.
