You haul your shopping bag back to the house with both hands, making sure the cheap handle doesn't break and the groceries, which you spent a quarter of your already low wages on, spill all over the floor. The bag is extraordinarily heavy with tins of canned food and makes agitating rustling noises as the bags of salad moves and bashes against each other.

Your house is only about 2 miles away. You feel relieved as you think about returning home and just lying on your bed after carrying the heavy bag all the way. You walk past an alleyway between two of the suburban houses. In the darkness, a small stream of red trickles it's way onto the pavement.

You quickly lift your foot up before you step on it. Your head darts to look at the alleyway. As your eyes adjust to the distressing level of light, you see a boy, maybe a little bit older than you, crouched close to the ground.

He is looking down, a villainous smile plastered on his face, his eyes wide with some sick kind of enjoyment, blood cemented into his short blonde hair.

Your eyes slowly lower to the still, body lying, motionless, on the cold concrete. The shoulder was ripped open as well as the stomach. Blood creating a puddle beneath the body, staining the clothes a deathly red.

He looks up at you with red eyes. You quickly dash around a corner, trying to get you breath back.

"A-a ghoul?!" You whisper silently, grabbing hold of your bag even tighter and sprinting back home as fast as your legs would allow you.
