As the clock chimes 2 o'clock, you realise it's too late to continue a date now. You walk home with Kaneki in silence when Tsukyama escorts Touka home. You aren't sure how to react to the date so you stop to ask Kaneki what he thought. Unfortunately, your mind forgot it's mission and said something different instead.
Kaneki stops and returns to you. As soon as you meet his eyes you burst out, "I messed up, didn't I?" Now you're saying the words you realise how true this actually is. Tears begin to form in your head and, before you know it, tears have escaped and are rolling down your face.
You try to stop. You don't want to cry in front of your brother. "You did fine," Kaneki whispers quietly. He reaches his arms out and you accept his embrace. "You did fine," he repeats.
Even with his encouraging words you can feel tears still. You grip him tighter as if he has the power to turn off your tears. "I'm not cut out for dating," you mumble.
"I'm sure you are," he says as he pulls back. You both look at each other. You give out a faint laugh and Kaneki counters it with a smile.
You turn around, "I'm tired."
"Me too."
You walk side by side with Kaneki for the remainder of the trip. You manage to stop all tears or snuffles to some extent and take in the strange nightlife instead.
