drivin' through the city
in a broke down car
i smile and look out
of a dirty glass window
and think of the days
when we raced our cars
on the smooth highways
enveloping the cities
and when honking horns
was out of our minds
because we knew
how to drift our ways
around the traffic
so i smile and think
that weren't we terrific?long before
when we were young
we laughed a lot
for toxic adrenaline
rushed through our veins
and made our hearts race
with such a disorder
which made us forget
the meaning of 'order'
and left our minds
twirling in a velocity
of infinite miles per hour
so tell me darling
what made us move afar?don't you ever miss it all?
the rush of adrenaline
or the call of distances
the broad highways
or the magical instances?
don't you yearn for it all?
the drifting wheels
or the turbo in our cars
as we used to race all night
under the lost stars?i wonder if you do
because i do
with all my heart
and it so leaves me
wondering once again
that where are you today
and do you still drive around
in a broke down car
that used to be a babe
on the smooth highways
in our precious old days
and do you still smile
when you look out
of a dirty glass window
because old is gold?Author's Note
Listening to 'Closer' by Halsey. :)
I like this poem. It's about a car that is old and has dirty windows but it is precious for the driver as it holds so many touching memories that a new car could never replace. This poem is a representation of Hazel. She sticks to people, places and things because she just can't let go of all the memories that combine to make who she is today. :')❤
Much Love,
Hazel ⭐
