walkin' through the crowds
i see faces bereft of happiness,
of love, of smiles, of life itself.
the amount of pain roaming
in a lucid sea of lost people
grasps my attention, my heart,
so i sit down on the footpath,
my head between my knees,
my hands trembling in malady
and pour a river of silver drops
on the concrete pavement
that's way too hard, too cold,
for someone like me darling...

i wonder, if i die right here
in the zenith of low despair,
in the arms of cruel emptiness,
amidst this black hole of mess
that we've created over years
through laughter, through tears
i wonder...
but what's the use
of scratching the surface
of catafalques?

you're not coming back, love
so why wonder this at all?
why imagine having wings
when i am destined to fall?

my peripheral vision tells me
cars are drivin' by, fast 'n' free
padestrians gapin', fadin' light,
whispers over my sorry sight

i lay down on this pavement
like an incoherent statement
while day shifts, ever so polite,
into the arms of a hazy night

and i know, i thought it before
that i am not going to wonder
but baby, 3am lies by my side,
and i can't help but surrender...

Author's Note

Listening to '3am' by Finding Hope and it's a pretty coincidence that it's almost 3am right now. Do check this song out. You're going to love it. :')

I literally typed an author's note and erased it all because I can't put into words how difficult it was for me to type this poem. I hope you like it. Thanks for always staying by my side...
I talk like I'm a celebrity lmao. Sorry for sounding like that, though. This ordinary girl is signing off for tonight. See you again...hopefully. :')

Much love,
Hazel
