Blink

i cry mercury so it paints my cheeks
such that my face holds rivers of stars
'n' i look like a silver galaxy of spirals
trapped in a low bottle of champagne

these lads here are perfect alchemists
hiding in shaded, evolutionary alleys
making alloys out of drugs and liquids
destroying the gold in me, messin' up

bottle caps clink a melody on the floor
these pavements hum a lonely silence
so i throw away the cordage of my will
and pour a paradise down my throat

i'm high enough to be clinically insane
so i tip over this string of hazy dreams
to see faces in the rain, to dance alone
because who needs a partner in pain?

this is all the benevolence of a syringe
an altruism so expensive, it eats away
all of my sweaty, crumpled dollar bills
ah what a waste for just a little binge!

i hear folks shouting at me in the streets
crooks in dingy alleys robbin' you away,
stealin' away the sweat of your parents,
oh selling you meagre bliss for fortunes

this is all unfathomable malapropisms
i can't understand, what mondegreens
startin' to think i can't do this no more
'cause a drowsy bullet drains my brain

so i lie on the cold floor of a pavement
in a narrow alley, all done and dusted,
'n' look at the poetry scribbled on a sky
all purple with the hue of my fantasies

it's all a dream painted over the passage
between cruel reality 'n' sweet euphoria
so don't you ask me to smile right now
because i can barely blink, barely blink

Author's Note

Listening to 'The Way I See Things' by Lil Peep so here's another one of dark poems. How's it? I think it's better than the last two poems. Also, if you're a keen observer, you might have observed that I'm a fan of purple neon. I don't particularly like purple colour but I love it the most in neon shades. :')💜
