XXXV. Camping Trip

It was now spring break for the kids and Michael had something special planned for the family, they would go camping for the first time.

They'd get a camper for the week and drive to Kentucky for a fun-filled week of the outdoors.

"Mommy, do you have another sandwich I could have?" Isabella asked

"No, you already ate those three sandwiches I packed for you?"

"Yes, and part of Christian's too."

She must have a tapeworm inside of her. Don't worry sweetie, I'll get you something to eat." Michael said

"Ok, and where's the bathroom?"

"It's behind that big tree." Alex pointed as she went over to the tree

"There's no bathroom behind here." She said as Alex and Christian began to snicker

"There is no bathroom, dear, you'll have to squat down behind a tree," Katherine said

"But what if I have to poop?!" She expressed as Alex and Christian began to laugh some more

"There's really nothing to it, just make you a little hole in the ground and cover it up once you're done."

"Ok."

"The boys and I are going to get some food, will you two be okay by yourselves?" Michael asked

"Yeah, we'll be fine. While you're gone, we'll start getting up some wood."

"Hopefully it won't take us long to bring some food back."

"What are we gonna need wood for?" Isabella asked

"To make a fire so we can cook the food."

"Oh, have you been camping before?"

"It's been a long time, but I've gone before."

"Who did you go with?"

"My dad, Julia, and David. Mom didn't really like it that much, she said we basically live in the middle of nowhere, she doesn't need to go any further in some woods." Katherine giggled. "But, it was still really fun, dad loved the outdoors."

"You think if he were here, he would've come with us?"

"Absolutely, no doubt about it, he would've whipped all of us into shape."

Time has passed and so far Katherine and Isabella gathered up a good amount of wood to start a fire with and some leftover as Katherine showed Isabella how to build and start a fire while Michael and the boys were coming back from fishing

"Guess who caught the most fish?" Christian said excitingly

"Who's that?" Katherine asked

"I did!" He said holding up his line of fish. "I caught four, I got the last one as we were about to leave."

"What? My baby boy out fished his own father?"

"He took my spot so I let him have it. I was the first one to catch something then he comes and takes over."

"That kinda sounds like talk from a sore loser." Katherine teased

"I see this as nothing but a good thing. His four, my three, and Alex's two, which translate to we're eating good tonight."
