LI: Going Steady

Isabella and Ronnie were in the library reading up on a few books for an upcoming project they're having as they sat ever so close to each other and every now and then, they would hold hands

"Does this make us boyfriend and girlfriend now?" Isabella asked breaking the silence between the two

"Do you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend?"

"Of course, we both like each other so why not." She shrugged

"Ok, but we'll make it official when I give you something to show that you're my girl."

"Oh Ronnie you don't have to give me anything, really."

"But I have to, just like if we were to get married, I'd give you a ring so this is no different. Plus, you're used to the finer things in life and you deserve it." He said as she heavily blushed and tucked her hair behind her ear

"That's so sweet of you, I'll tell you what, you don't have to get me anything fancy, as long as it's from the heart, I'll accept it, deal?"

"Deal, and by the way, I like your hair like this, it makes you look very elegant."

"Really? You don't think it's lopsided or anything?" She asked touching her bun

"No, it's cute, I like it a lot."

"Okay, as long as you like it I won't change it." She said as she scooted closer and wrapped his arm around her
"Are you ready for basketball to start?"

"Oh yes, I feel so empty inside if I'm not playing."

"Well I was thinking about going out for cheerleading. I know it's late in the season but, I would like to be at every game cheering you on."

"I believe you'll make it." He said as he then started laughing

Isabella's face saddened, "You don't really think that do you?" She asked sadly looking at him

"Oh no I'm sorry, I wasn't laughing at you, I was thinking about what Calvin had said awhile back, but of course I think you'll make it."

"Well what did he say, I wanna laugh too."

"I doubt you'll laugh at all."

"Ah come on, I have a sense of humor too, I like to hear funny jokes, please tell me." She begged as he sighed

"Alright, I'll tell you. When you and I first started becoming friends Calvin told me that it wasn't a good idea for us to be friends, let alone a couple."

"Why?"

"Because of your history with your former boyfriends."

"Like what?"

"One's missing, another one buried alive, and one ran-away. When things don't go your way, mysteriously they go missing and no one hears from them again."

"You don't honestly think of me like this, do you?" She asked with a hint of nervousness in her voice and a worried look on her face

"No, I don't. After getting to know you and realizing what a sweet person you really are, I just laugh at all of the outlandish stuff Calvin has said to me in the past about you. I know the real you, and no one can tell me otherwise." He said as she smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek

"Thank you."

"Anytime." He smiled back

Calvin was at his locker getting his books to take home for the day as it was the end of school.

He went to close his locker back when Isabella was standing beside him. He jumped back in fright and then started laughing at himself

"I'm sorry, did I scare you?" She asked him as he continued laughing
