The next day, I woke up and got ready for work. I worked at Encrusted Jewels for five months now. I put on my employee shirt and a jacket on and walked downstairs. I was going to grab keys that were hung by the exit only to find it missing. "Hey, Camila!" I yelled for her. I knew that she would be awake because she loves it when the sun rises.
"Yeah," I heard a reply coming from the living room.
"Do you know where the keys are?" I asked her, hoping she would know.
"I think they are in the kitchen," she told me.
I walked into the kitchen and searched. I opened each drawer, every cabinet, the counters, and the dishwater, but there was no keys. "I can't find them!" I yelled back.
Slowly, she walked into the kitchen with her crutches. She gave me an odd look. "Did you leave it in your room?"
I gasped and shook my head. My room is a mess, and it will take me forever to find it. I guess I should just walk to work today. Encrusted Jewels wasn't that far away from the neighborhood. "I guess, I'm walking today." She gave me a nod before walking off to the living room. She's getting better. I can't stand her being so vulnerable.
I walked towards the door and was about to open it before I reminded myself. "I'm locking the door so don't worry about anyone entering," I told her, and she held one of her thumbs up.
I exit the house and began my ten minutes' journey to work.
Liam's POV
I headed down to the tech room with a cup of coffee. I had stayed up last night, trying to find Allyson Brooke, but there was nothing about her. I checked her house, but no one answered. I went to her workplace, but she wasn't working that day. Today, I'm going back to her work, Encrusted Jewels, one of our many companies we collaborated with.
I entered the room and saw Cheryl and Kris working together on our suspect. "How long have you guys been working?" I asked them. I took a sip of my coffee.
"Not that long," Cheryl answered. "But Kris did saw her last night."
My attention turned to Kris. He adjusted his collar and began explaining, "Well, she was on a dinner date with this guy, and she handed him a card. He then gave a ring box. I think she was exchanging money for some jewels. Our jewels."
I clenched my fist. Words cannot describe my anger right now. I wanted to scream and shout. I wanted to toss everything in this room. Why would she do this? I hate people like her.
Gold Diggers!
"I followed her to her house and she seemed to be so secretive," he explained more.
"I got to get her," I told them. Their expressions widened with fear and curiosity. "She's...guilty," I stumbled with my words, not trying to be harsh. I reminded myself of why I was here. "I'm going undercover," I blurted out which made their eyes widened.
"Do you know how dangerous that is?" Cheryl asked me.
I shook my head. "It's not like I'm exchanging money for bad guys."
"No, but you could easily get yourself expose," Kris said. "You don't know how hard it is to go undercover. It's more than hiding in plain sight."
I listened to his words and I completely understand, but I just couldn't let her get away from this. "I get that," I told them. "I do. But I can't just let her get away. She hurt our family."
I think it was what I said or how I said it that got them to listen to me. I don't know but Cheryl stood up and led me to the changing room. She gave me a set of clothes l, and I put them on. I don't know if this makes a difference because it's casual clothing. But I went with it. She handed me a cap, 'a phone', and eye glasses. I questioned it.
