Liam's POV
I slowly begin to open my eyes. At first, I saw this bright room, but my vision cleared up. I tried to sit up, but I felt a striking pain on the side of my body every time I move. There was a figure in the corner of my eye. "Hello?" I asked.
"Liam?" I heard a feminine voice, but I couldn't distinguish her voice.
"Who's there?" I asked her.
I hear her walking towards me and felt her hands on my arm. "It's me, Dinah." I turned my head and saw her. I tried to recall the events that led me here. "You covered Ally and got hit with a bullet," Dinah explained.
I took a moment to think before a flash of memories appeared. I remembered what had happened. Dinah and I came to Ally's rescue and Ally was freaking out. I calmed her down, and then, there was shooting. We ran. I looked back and saw the guy aiming for Ally. I pushed myself on Ally, and then, I was hit. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was Ally. "Where's Ally?" I asked. "Is she safe?"
"She's with my aunt at her house. She is perfectly well," she explained. "You know, she was beginning to worry about you because you weren't waking up. But I assured her that you will wake one day."
"How long was I sleeping?" I asked.
"Over a week. Your friend, Zayn, he visited you along with some of my friends," she said.
"Zayn is here?!" I exclaimed trying to sit up, but I end up hurting myself.
Dinah held out her hand on my chest to prevent me from injuring myself as I came forward. "Woah. Hold it. You need a lot of rest before you could sit up."
"I'm well," I said. "Is Ally coming?" Dinah smiled brightly, which only made me questioned her motives.
She pulled out my phone from the drawer and hand it to me. "See for yourself," she said, handing me earbuds before walking out of the room.
After I heard the door close, I plugged the earbuds to my phone and slowly sit up. I slowly felt a sting, but it was worth it. I placed the earpiece in and opened my phone. On my lock screen, it displayed a lot of notifications from Ally. I swiped on one and read her messages which only made me smile.
Hey, Liam. I hope you are feeling better when you wake up.
Dinah and I really miss and hope you will wake up soon..
Morning, friend. I am on my way to see you. Hope you had an amazing sleep.
You know, you look so adorable when you're sleeping.
I know this might be silly, but I just read you a story. And you seem to enjoy it. Yeah, you didn't have any comments on it.
Get well soon. I miss you.
I looked at the picture she had sent me. One of them had her and Dinah in it, making a pose. Some were photos of her and me.
As scrolled down, I begin to see that she was not texting me that much and instead was voice messaging. I pressed the play button and increased the volume.
"Hey, Liam. I had a terrific day reading Sense and Sensitivity with you today. It was amazing. You seemed to appreciate it because you didn't snore (ha ha) or talk in your sleep like usual. Anyway, that's it for today."
I clicked on the next one.
"Hey, um. Today...yeah, well, I just had a realization that you might not wake up. And it kind of scared me. I need you...here. I would never forgive myself if something terrible happened to you. You're literally the one person I want to see right now and I...well, that should be enough for the day. See you soon."
