Today was the day that I leave this house, but something tells me that it's only temporary. I know that I will be back some day. I feel it.
I folded my clothes into my suitcase. I grabbed the next piece of clothing from the closet and realized that it was the blue cardigan that Liam bought me that day on the mall. I put on the cardigan and observe myself through the mirror. I can't believe it. Seems like it's been a while since we interacted. Funny because we just spoke last night.
And our song. The song that we sang last night. There was something there definitely, and I didn't know if he could tell. I felt a spark. Something just clicked, and I knew that he was more than a friend.
Friend? Dinah!
No, no. I can't. I can't feel this way for him. Dinah would be crush, and she's going to be heartbroken. I'm a terrible friend.
I continued on and finished packing. I shut the luggage and zipped it. I walked downstairs, carrying my luggage. I saw Andy and Desti waiting downstairs for me. "Hey, Ms. Boss. We can't wait to see you soon."
I smiled at the two siblings. Their spirit was so high. I wish I could have it, especially after the amount of stress I have had in the pass couple of weeks. "Thanks and don't worry. I will. Is everyone at lunch?"
"Yes," Desti answered. She gestured her hand to the dining room. I took a look at it and saw everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. There was only one person missing from the table.
"Where's your boss?" I asked.
They shrugged in sync and answered in unison. "He must be outside." They both exchange looks and rolled their eyes at one another.
I wondered off outside and stood by Dinah's car. I looked around my surroundings but found nothing but a note attached to Dinah's windshield. I read the note and noticed that it was for me. I grabbed it and read it:
Allyson, look behind you
I turned around and saw a pathway made of rocks. It led into the woods. I decided to follow the path. I went through the park and through the woods to a beautiful lake with multiple docks. The pathway continued to a particular dock.
I walked to the one that was the nearest right to the center. The sun was shining bright. Not a hint of cloud was showing in the sky. The temperature was dropping though. I felt a gust of cold wind bursting through. I shivered and tighten my cardigan.
I rested my arms and elbows on the fence and looked down at the water. I could see my reflection as the water swayed back and forth. Suddenly, another reflection appeared next to me on my right. I looked towards my right and was startled to see Liam standing beside me. He was giving me a smile that warmed my heart. I was breathing heavily at the sight of him. My pulse was racing and my throat was getting drier by the second.
"Hey," he greeted.
I stood there frozen. I didn't know what to do. I talked to him last night though, but this time, it was a lot scarier. Words cannot describe how nervous I was. I opened my mouth and slowly made a sentence out. "Hey, Liam," I said. "How are you?"
"I'm great," he said.
I took a few steps away from him and nodded. "That's nice to hear," I said but regret it the instant.
