I turn on the radio, covering the awkward silence that was filling the car. Ever since I came back, Kris has been giving me the same look. I really don't know why, but it seems like he's in deep thought.

He pulls into the parking lot and parks. I reach my hand for the handle, but he locks the door. I turn to him and questions his movement.

He shoves his hand on my chin and takes turns looking at both my cheeks. His grip tightens until he removes it and presses the back of his palm on my forehead, pushing me back against the door. "What are you doing?"

He sighs and answers, "Are you feeling alright?" He asks.

"Yeah," I said. I grab a hold of his wrist, and suddenly, like a strummed cord of a guitar, chills run down my entire body. A feeling I was too familiar with. The sparks were just like the beginning of Liam and our relationship.

The feeling lasts only for a short time as he removes his arm and turns away. He unlocks the car and gets out. I follow him out, running up behind him as we enter the hospital.

We ride the elevator and walk into the room. Liam lies on the bed, sleeping still. Kris made himself into the restroom. I lean a little over to Liam and see that the sheet was covering both of his arm. I carefully uncover his sheet, seeing that they were already messed up.

As soon as I life the sheets up, Liam's eyes open widely at me as if he's been waiting for my entrance. His face still plasters the same emotionless expression at me. I take a step back. "I'm sorry," I said. "I didn't mean to wake you up."

His creased brows and eyes popping are the answers he gives back at me. I turn around and sit down on the couch.

"Where's Cheryl?" He asks.

I smile, hiding the sharp pain coming from the inside. "I think she's at her house," I reply.

He sighs and begins to uncover the sheets. I stand up and walk over to him. "Here, let me help you," I said, grabbing a hold of his arm.

However, he jerks his arm and falls back down on the mattress, groaning in pain. "Liam! Are you - are you okay?"

He closes his eyes, easing the pain. "Why are you still here?" he asks. "Haven't I made it obvious enough that I don't want you here?"

I nod my head, closing my eyes for a moment. I regather my thoughts and open my eyes once more. I reply, "Liam, I love you. And I am willing to do anything for you to be comfortable and happy."

Liam scoffs, causing another scar on my heart. "That's nice," he says in a sarcastic way. I catch my breath. "But I don't share mutual feelings. I don't know you. I don't like you."

I inhale the air deeply, preventing tears to come into my eyes, but I fail miserably. "Liam, I know you are just saying this because you don't remember me. But I know you. You are not this kind of person. Even with strangers, you wouldn't be cruel."

"Or maybe I just don't like you," he says it as if it was nothing. "I know you mean well, but I don't want you to care for me. I don't want to hear you. I don't want to see you."

"Let me guess," I said as a tear broke pass my waterline. "You want Cheryl to care for you. You want to hear her voice. You want to see her."

"I'm sorry, but it's true," he says.

"I'm sorry too," I said, giving up. Giving up on everything I thought I believe in.

"And if I did love you," he adds, "I would have told you the truth."

I nod my head. "Well, I guess, I should get going." I exit the room and lean against the wall.

With one breath, I release all the pain with tears rolling down my cheeks. Something just doesn't add up. Or maybe I just don't know him. Maybe he's just been playing me all this time. Using his words and charm to fool me.
