Liam helps me to the lobby of the building. I try not to put too much pressure on my right ankle. Every now and then, I would feel a small sting.
He rests me down on a couch. I hold onto my stomach, ceasing the pain. "Do you need to go to the hospital?" He asks.
I look up at him and shake my head. "No, I'm fine," I reply.
He takes a seat in front of me and looks down at my hands on my stomach. "Are you sure? We can, just to make sure there's nothing wrong."
"Liam, if anyone is going to see the doctor, it is you," I said. "You jump on Troy to save me. You took his punches for me. You should worry about your health more."
"Ally," He begins, not making eye contact with me. "I understand, but we are husband and wife. Therefore, your health is just like mine."
"Liam, I don't want to get into this conversation," I said. "I am not going to stand by and let you talk me into seeing the doctor. I am perfectly well. There's nothing wrong with me. But your wound..." I touch his left cheek and pull it to where our eyes meet. "...do you have an aid kit here?"
"There's one at the house," he answers.
"Where's Dylan?" I question.
"I told him to pull up the car in the front," he answers. "Just in case you wanted to go to the hospital."
"We should go back home," I said. I catch a glimpse at the sun setting. "It's going to get dark soon." I grab his hand and lead him out the door.
Dylan pulls the car up at the sidewalk. I open the door for Liam. He gets in, and I follow him shortly. Once we buckled up, Dylan drives off.
A couple minutes pass until we arrive in front of the house. I open the door and help Liam get out. As we enter the house, Jen comes up to us and greets us, "Hello." Her face plasters something of curiosity. "What happened?"
"There was a little fight but no one got hurt," I answer.
She nods and asks, "Okay. Do you guys need the first aid kit?"
I smile. "Yes, that will be helpful," I respond. "Can you please bring it to us upstairs."
Jen nods her head and walks away. Liam and I head upstairs and enter our room. I set him down on the bed, making sure he was comfortable. I walk over to the glass door, leading to the porch, and admire the night sky. I look at the time and see it was 9:04. I grab the curtains and close them.
I turn back to Liam and see Jen setting the first aid kid down on the nearby table by the door. "Thank you," I said. She smiles and nods her before exiting the room.
I walk over to the table and open the first aid kit. I grab a band-aid and Neosporin. I turn back to Liam and sit down beside him. I place the band-aid on the bed and twist the cap off. I squeeze a little bit of the ointment on my index finger and gently rub it against the small scar. I hear him yelp a little. "Sorry," I said before biting my lower lip.
I close the cap and rip the band-aid open. I stick the band-aid on to the scar, gently smoothing the band aid with my index and middle finger.
"Is there any thing else that hurts?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "No," he replies. "What about you? How is your ankle?"
"Better," I answer him. I pick up the the ointment and band-aid wrappers. I got up. However, Liam holds my hand.
"Let me do it," he says.
I shake my head. "No, I got it," I said.
I stand up and put the Neosporin in the first aid kit and throw the wrappers in the trash. I look behind me and see Liam standing up. His back was turned to me. His eyes wonder off to the night sky as he was in deep thought.
