Liam's POV
I move my arms to the side to hold my beautiful and sweet wife. However, my arms meet the empty space beside me. I peek my eyes open, cringing at the light. My eyebrows crease. Her spot was emptied beside me.
I turn and lay on back, staring at the ceiling for a while until I decided to sit up and observe my surroundings. The room was the same. However, only my clothes were scattered on the floor. Hers were absent.
I ran my hands through hair and let out a yawn. My eyes shift to the alarm. 6:23. Ally would usually wake up by this time.
I grab a robe and put it on. I uncover the sheets and walk to the bathroom. In the bathroom, I look at my reflection. My hair was all messy, and my eyes are blinded by the light. I turn on the faucet and cup my hands to moist my hands. I wash my face and dry it with a towel.
I spent a couple of minutes in the bathroom, brushing my teeth and taking a warm shower. I walk out the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist. I grab a new set of clothes and fix them on me.
I trot down the stairs and head into the dining room where Nicola and me father greets me. I held on a smile on my face, waiting to see Ally. Nicola somehow read my mind and pointed out, "Oh, brother. By the look on your face, I suppose everything went well with you and Allyson."
I nod my head. "Yes," I respond. I look around me, rubbing my hands together. "Have you seen her recently?"
Nicola shakes her head while my father didn't have an answer. "Strange," I said.
Nicola assures me, "Don't worry. Dylan probably took her out to the store or something."
I nod my head and take a seat in front of my father. He clears his throat and glances at Nicola and then at me. "Son, I think it's time to discuss some matter of things," he begins.
I look at him oddly, not really intrigue to what he has to say. If it is what I think it is... "Okay," I reply.
He explains, "Since you, Kris, Ruth, and Nicola are soon beginning to start a family of your own, I am ready to officially retire from SABO and give all of my work to you." My stomach turns, hearing him say that he is retiring.
"Dad, you're retiring?" Nicola questions.
"Yes, I am," he says. "Liam, I trust you to handle the two businesses."
I nod my head and sigh, "Thank you, father, but..." I pause for a moment, wondering whether I should tell him. Two. I can only adapt to one, and I am sure with time I will be able to handle both. However, I didn't want to. It was never my thing in the first place.
I turn to Nicola, who gives me a nod, indicating I should tell him the truth. She, out of all my siblings, knew how much I did not want to inherit the family business. It is a heavy duty. And I haven't told Ally about SABO yet. I will once she gets back.
I turn to father. I catch a breath and finish my statement, "...I, uh, I think I can handle both."
Nicole's eyes lower to the ground, showing her disappointment in me. My father smiles and nods his head in pleasure. "Good, see it that you can take care of both business."
I look down at the food and begin to dig in. I will possibly do anything to stop the conversation from going on. I had to take my time on this. It wasn't like jumping into a next chapter in a book. I have to slowly develop my abilities.
I look up at the entrance, hearing Nikki panting as she stops by the doorway. "Sir Liam," she begins. "Dylan is back."
I stand up from my seat and walk out the dining room until I stop in front of the stairs, seeing Dylan crossing by. "Dylan," I said.
