This had not occurred to me that their date was going to be so soon. I expected it to be maybe next week, but in two days? It's bizarre. Couldn't they wait a little longer? It's good thing Aunt Lana is at work or she wouldn't allow it.
I sat down on a chair in the kitchen. Dinah was getting dress and was applying makeup on her face.
About ten minutes, I heard the door knocking. I got out of my seat and looked through the peephole. It was Liam, dressing in a tie-less tux. I opened the door and greeted him, "Hey, Liam."
Liam gave me a nod and greeted back, "Hey, Allyson."
"You may come in," I said.
He stepped inside the apartment and observe the place before looking at his watch. I could see through his expression that there was something wrong.
"Are you okay?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he answered. "I was expecting Dinah to be done by now. She's going to miss her sh—" A wave of confusion hit me when he stopped and looked away from me. "—favorite ride at the carnival."
"Wait. She's going to miss her sh...?" I questioned. Liam half-smiled at me and tucked his hands into his pocket. He stared blankly at me, remaining silent. "Liam, are you feeling alright?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he answered again.
Somehow, I knew that he was lying. But I didn't want to upset him. "Anyway," I began. "What's your Christmas plans?"
He shook his head slowly. "Not sure," he replied. "I usually spent them with my dad, my sisters, my brother, and my peers, but it doesn't seem like I can this year."
"I know how you feel," I told him. "I can't spend it with my family or with my friends because they live far. I can't afford a plane ticket to Texas. On the good side, I get to spend it with Dinah and her aunt, and that is something I'm looking forward to." Liam tilt his head a little.
"Okay, I am dress, and do I impress?" Dinah questioned. Liam and I both turned to Dinah, wearing a white dress with floral designs embroidered on it cutting off at her knees. Her purse was hung over her shoulder.
"Cheesy," I added. Dinah raised an eyebrow. "I'm kidding. You look beautiful."
Liam smiled and walked towards her. "You look amazing."
"Thank you," Dinah replied. "Ready?" Liam nodded. Dinah turned towards me and said, "Okay, Ally. I won't be home until ten, so if Aunt Lana comes home early, tell her that I'm at work."
I nodded. "Okay, go. Have fun," I replied. "I have to catch up on my binge watching."
Dinah and Liam exit the apartment. I dimmed the light and relaxed on the couch. I snuggled against a blanket while leaning back on the couch. I had a bowl of fruit snacks to keep me company as I turned on the tv and finished watching the first episode of the Vampire Diaries.
As I continue, my eyes began to heavy, and I soon got lost into my dreams.
I dreamt that I was in a building. There was some kind of party going on. It seemed to be a wedding. Everybody was talking until the bride walked down the aisle, and she was beautiful. She had fair skin that flowed along with her dimples. One hand held the bouquet of roses while the other arm had intertwined with an elder man: her father.
I couldn't get my eyes off of her. She made it up to the stage where the groom stood. I couldn't see a clear image of his face as his back was turned to me. I had a hunch that I knew him. I excuse myself to the other people that were before me as I traveled to the front. The bride and groom had already made their vows and 'I do's. I leaned a little bit more on my left, and I could see a glimpse of Liam as the groom. The priest had announce, "Speak now or forever hold your breath."
