Over two weeks have passed, and Jerry and I have been getting along. The more I help out, the more he appreciates my presence, and I was glad that I was winning him over.

During the first few days, I did not know what to do. I was not skilled with raising animals other than a dog. However, I pick up the pace, and soon, I learn how to feed a piglet and a calf properly with Ally's help, and she taught me how to brush the horse's hair. I memorize the feeding schedule and the medicines to give to the sick animals.

There were some days where things got tough. And other days where I hardly did nothing.

I arrive to Ms. Furry mattress. She slumps on her mattress, looking upset. Her white fur cover half of her eyes. I knee down to her height and massage the back at her neck, speaking to her, "Hey, Ms. Furry. Are you ready for some lunch?"

Ms. Furry did not react. She simply stared off to the exact same space she was looking at. I stand up and grab a ladle. I scoop the ladle inside the already open cat food bag and place the cat food on Ms. Furry's tray.

"Here's the water," Ally said holding out the cup of water.

I shift my eyes on her and smile. "Thank you," I reply, taking the cup and pouring it on the other tray.

Ally stoop down to Ms. Furry's height and massage her back body. "Aww, poor kitty," Ally pouted. "I was only fourteen when dad got Ms. Furry. She was super cute and active, but now, she just lays down, waiting for the time to pass."

"It's a pity," I reply. I scratch the back of my neck, a little nervous. There was something I wanted to discuss with her. "Ally, um, when do you want to go back?"

Ally thought about it for a second before answering, "When do you want to go back?"

"I kind of need to go back before Wednesday," I answer her. "I just have some work I need to catch up on."

"We can go back tomorrow," Ally said.

"You sure?" I question.

Ally nodded. "Yes."

I need to catch up on work and at SABO. A criminal escaped a couple weeks ago. Cheryl, Kris, Zayn, Louis, and Niall are figuring where he roams now. Harry has been notified and is researching. And there has been some money missing at P-Jewels.
...
This afternoon, Jerry and I are walking to go feed the calves. "So, are you enjoying your stay?"

"Yes, everyone has been kind and pleasant, even the animals," I reply, causing him to chuckle.

"I'm sorry for judging you, Liam," Jerry said. "I know that you are a businessman, and that's why I didn't like you the first time. But now, I see differently. You make my daughter happy in ways that even her mom and I can't."

"Sir, you're giving me too much credit," I respond.

"Humble," he pointed out. "I like that."

We continue walking until we hit our destination. Before we begin, I needed to talk to Jerry about something. It's been on my mind for a while now, and I am ready. "Sir," I begin, getting his attention. "Would you consider me a son-in-law?"

Jerry smiles. "Of course," he replies, before catching on. "Does that mean that you're going to propose?"

"Soon enough," I answer. "I just wanted to have your blessings and make sure you're okay with me before I go and do it. I already talk to Ally's mum, and she expressed herself genuinely happy."

Jerry chuckles and nods. "You have my blessings." He takes a step closer and puts his hand on my shoulder, looking at me in the eyes. His expression changes to blankness. "I know that you make my Ally happy, but if you ever betray her or lie to her to the point where she can't take it, I will find a better person who will respect her better." I nod as he lets go of my shoulder. "That was just my warning, and I hope that doesn't happen."

"It won't, sir," I reply, "I will do anything to protect her."

"That's what I like to hear," Jerry smiles and nods. He enters the stable, and I follow him in shortly.

AAHHHHHHH!!!!!

I jump a little and widen my eyes, fearing for the worst. Jerry and I exchange a curious look. We turn around, and I crease my brows.

"Let's check it out," Jerry said, stepping in front of me.

"What about the calves?" I question.

"We can feed them when we come back," Jerry replies. "Come on."

I nodded and followed him back to the house. We ran to the living room where the entire family, including Will and the servants, crowded a particular area. I see Ally turning around, tears in her eyes. She runs up to me and wraps her arm around me tightly, her head bury in my chest. I place my hands on her back, comforting her as much as possible. I move my head a little to see what had happened.

Ally mumbles something over and over in my chest. I bring my hand up to brush her hair. "W-what is it?" I ask.

Ally sniffs and looks up at me. "Sh-she's gone," Ally manages to say. "Ms. Furry passed away."

My face fell as I release a breath. Shocked. She was a sweet and loving cat from the time I spent with her. It's hard to imagine her not being here.

I look at Ally, seeing her tears fall down. I smile, trying to ease the tension a little, and bring my hand up to cheek, wiping her tears away. "It's okay. She died in a loving family that treated her fairly and right. She lived a good life." She smile a little, but it faded once she revisited the memories. I bring her to my chest and held her head and upper back, breathing in slowly. "It's alright," I said. I lean my head down and give her a kiss on the side of her head.

"How did she die?!" Jerry screamed.

Ally and I turn our attention on him, who was standing beside the deceased cat on her bed. Tears form in his eyes.

No one answered him. They all turn their heads away, slightly frighten.

"Answer me!" Jerry screamed once more. Ally holds onto my arm, frightened.

"I believe it was because she grew old and died," Anne answered.

Jerry relaxes his face, looking back down on Ms. Furry. Patricia comes and wraps her arm around him, shaking her head. "She's in a better place, Jerry," she assured him.

Jerry breathes through his nose and stared at the cat as tears fell down his face. "No, no..." he said in a low tone.

I feel my eyes puff as I sniff the air.

Will walks off to Ms. Furry's previous place, where I fed her this morning. He touches the floor and examines the cat food and water. His brows crease as he picks up the tray of cat food. "What is this?"

Everyone turns to him as he gets up and holds the tray in front of him. Jerry stands up and pushes everyone to the side. He walks toward Will and grabs the tray once he reaches him. He studies the tray before turning around, enrage. "Who fed him earlier today?"

My anxiety comes out as Ally looks at me. I turn to look at everyone. They were silent shaking their heads in denial.

"Answer me!" He screeched.

I take a step forward. "I did—"

"We did," Ally said, taking a step with me.

My eyes shifts to her, shaking my head. I release her from my arm and turn back to Jerry. "I did it. Only me."

Jerry widens his eyes on me, giving me the coldest look possible. His hands transform into a fist.

"Uncle," Will begins. "Don't stoop down to his level."

Jerry's arm begins to shake. Patricia runs up to him, breaking his fist apart.

Ally spoke up, "Dad—"

"Don't!" Jerry interrupted. He turns his head away, staring off into space. "Everyone needs to get out. I need to have a word with my daughter."

I face Ally, giving her an apologetic look. She nods and smile. She mouths, "It's okay."

I nodded. I follow the others out of the room, turning back one more time at Ally before heading out.
