I close my book, finishing a chapter of Jane Eyre. A wedding seems to be happening soon in both dimensions.
I turn over to the blank sheet of paper and the mechanical pencil resting on my desk. Nothing appear in my mind of what I should put down. My mind is blank. It's literally blank.
Why is writing down my vow so hard? I just got over a fever a few days ago. It shouldn't really be this hard.
Liam. What could I say about him? And our relationship.
"Hey," I turn over to the door and saw Lauren peeking into my room. "What are you doing?" She walks over to my desk.
"I'm trying to write down my vow," I answer her. "I'm stuck."
Lauren kneels down beside me and rests her elbows on the desk. "Maybe I can help." I bat my eyes. "You should begin it when you two first met. And then tell your story from that on."
"What if Liam does that? And what if our story is too long or too short?"
Lauren sighs, "Well, maybe you can go and ask your bridesmaids." I widen my expression, feeling the heat hit my face. She smiles cheekily, feeling confident in her position at my wedding.
My smile did not reflect hers, and she knew something was wrong. Her brows crease. "What? I'm not your maid of honor?"
I shake my head. "I'm sorry, Lauren. No, you're not." She gasps, opening her mouth once again, but I interrupted before she can begin. "I already have another position for you. And it is super important."
"What?" she asks, crossing her arms.
"You are going to be the head photographer," I answer. "And you do get paid."
Lauren sulks a little, removing her elbows off the table. "I guess, I can be the photographer. Just as long Liam doesn't make Louis work by me."
"Actually, Louis is going to be your assistant follow by Betty," I answer, nervous of how she is going to react. She is going to have to work with two people she couldn't stand, or is it one? It's hard to keep track with her relationship with Louis. Sometimes, she can handle him. Sometimes, she can't.
"What?!" Lauren exclaims loudly. I cover my ears for a second. "Betty...Betty...Betty fucking Anderson! That manipulative bully?!" I give an apologetic look.
"Hey, in this case, you are her boss, so you're in charge of her," I said, trying to lighten up her mood.
"But...but, I can't stand her," Lauren begins. "She's such a two-face. And don't forget, she's related to Troy. Your ex. But Betty! Betty, Betty, Betty. Out of all the humans and creatures in the galaxy, why her? Even a dog would be better."
"Louis is going to be there, so she is going to not misbehave," I said.
Lauren shakes her head. "No, she is going to find a way. I know she will. Once Louis leaves, she will be up in my neck like it's her own business. Why couldn't it just be Louis and me? I can at least stand him."
"How are you two?" I ask, changing the subject. "Have you guys improve?"
Lauren rolls her eyes and head. "Louis and I have a complicated relationship. But I know that he likes me because of the way he looks at me. Or at least that's what the nurse, Dinah, and Harry said. And Zayn explained that one of the reasons why he didn't have feelings for me was because Louis likes me, and he didn't want to break the 'bro code' or whatever," Lauren quotes.
"So, do you like Louis?" I ask, quite confuse.
"I'm not saying that I like him, but I am opening my options to dating him," Lauren answers. "Back to the bridesmaid thing, have you decided who is going to be your maid of honor because if it isn't me, I am suspecting it will be Dinah."
