I was filled with high energy. Someone turned on the music, and I danced my way into the living room, where the music came from. I heard laughter and cheers around me as I manage to show off my dance moves. Dinah joined me, and the both of us did a Work From Home dance routine.
Afterwards, I pull Gloria and Kyle up to dance as the music booms. I closed my eyes for a moment and let all my feelings sink in. I couldn't really because I know there was something bottling up inside.
Once the music stops, I open my eyes and grabbed the mic from the stereo. I spoke, "Hello, guys. Today is a special day because it is Quincy's birthday and I am so excited to see him grow up as a twenty-one year old. Even though I never knew him for a long period of time, I still want to congratulate him and wish him the best in life. So give it to Quincy for turning twenty-one." Everyone's voices roar and chanted. My attention turned to Dinah. I had no idea where Liam was, but he was not my biggest concern right now. "You," I pointed to Dinah. I was about to walk to her until I felt someone pushed me. I grabbed a hold of the couch and knew that I was tipsy. "Dinah Jane. I want to confess to you that you are an amazing and beautiful friend." I wrapped my arm around her neck, trying to keep still. "I love you even if you are with Liam. I mean, I don't need a guy to be happy. I got myself and that's it. No need for heartbreaks. No need for everlasting. Although, Everlasting Love is a great song lyrically." I started to sing a little of it.
You're my ever, everlasting love...
I looked at Dinah's face and she had this concern look painted on her. "What's the matter?"
"Ally, are you okay?" Dinah asked me. "You seem kind of sober. Or are you drunk?"
I gave out laugh that soon turned into a mini-witch chuckle. That was such a question. "Are you kidding? I am feeling the best. You know what I mean." Dinah raised an eyebrow. How funny she looked confuse. I started to question whether it was the fact that she knew the truth or it was her irritation. "Dinah, why are you giving me that look? Do you know something? Or are you irritated?"
"Why would I be irritated?" She questioned calmly. I shrugged but pointed to her. She must know. She does know.
I started to panic. I didn't know what to do. I felt as if she was getting angrier by the second. "I am so sorry, Dinah."
"What is it?" She replied.
"Dinah, I have been keeping a secret from you all this entire time, and I know you are not going to be happy once you finally know what it is," I told her.
"Secret?" Dinah questioned once more. I nodded uncontrollably. "Is what I think it is?"
I nodded. I held the mic up close to my mouth and began speaking, "I wanted to tell you this, but I didn't know how long it would take before there was nothing left. I think you and Liam are good for one another, but the sight of you two being together makes my heart ache." I was expecting more red on Dinah, but she looked more intrigue than angry. "It is not that I don't support you or that I think you two are too fast, but there is only one explanation."
"And that is?" Dinah crossed her arms. Her lips curved into a small grin. It was like she was waiting for something good to come out of mouth, but there was none. At least for her.
I steadied my breath. I did not want to rush into saying the truth. If I did, I might start to pour out tears, and I don't think they need crying drunk at the party. "The truth is I li—"
"What's going on here?" my nerves jumped, and I turned to the person whose voice I can recognize in an instant. Liam stood at the bottom of the stairs. A part of me was relieved while another was disappointed.
