Liam's POV
I adjust our fingers together as we walk down to the public pool. Today was a lot warmer than yesterday. Ally's ankle healed, and she was able to walk again. But I miss carrying my sweetheart.
Our conversation last night opened up a new door and possibility. I am a little excited if Ally is pregnant. Words can't describe how excited I am.
We enter the building and pay for our activity. We pass multiple doors until we exit the building and enter the backyard. A giant, long pool stood before us. There other people playing in the water and taking over the chairs, but I spot two empty chairs in the corner. We walk there and set our towels down. Ally opens up her sunscreen lotion bottle and squeezes a quarter amount on the palm of her hand. "Turn around," she says.
"Okay," I reply. I take off my tank top, and she begins to rub the lotion on me, starting with my back.
In a few distance, I hear some whispers. "You know, I heard that P-Jewel is going bankrupt," I dart my eyes at a group of friends talking by the fence.
"What? How?" Said one of them.
"Someone has been stealing their money, duh," the other girl said.
"I bet it's that wife of the owner," my eyes widen as my eyebrows crease. My hand forms a fist, tightening as they continue. "She is sketchy as fuck. She shows up out of nowhere, and we're suppose to believe she is this little sunshine. I can already read her. She is greedy. A gold digger. That's why she married him. To be honest, I prefer that mouthy bitch he had before."
"Veronica, shut your mouth," one of the guy said. "All you could is talk trash about people."
"Hey, if the truth hurts, not my fault," she scoffs.
I turn my head away and flinch a little, hearing the bottle close. "There you go," Ally said, facing me.
"Thank you," I said, smiling. "Ready to go in the pool?"
"Yes," she said, removing the towel off her waist to reveal her black shorts. She forgot to bring her swimsuit, so she is going to swim in her shorts with her blue shirt.
She grabs my arm and pulls me up. I stand on my feet, removing her hand and holding it with my hand. We walk to the stairs until an idea pops inside my head. I loosen our finger and swoop her into my arms. She lets out a grunt and places her hand behind my neck. "What are you doing?" she asks.
"Going to the pool," I said, gesturing my head at the pool a few inches away. "Together..."
Her eyes read through my grin, and she shakes her head vigorously, trying to get out of my grasp. "No, no!" she exclaim. I adjust my hold on her and charge into the pool. "Please...Liam!" I hear her squeal before the two of us splash into the water.
Goosebumps rise on my skin as the two of us part. I stuck my head out of the water and see Ally shivering as she wipes her face and looks at me. "Liam!" she exclaims, nudging me on the arm.
I chuckle. "I'm sorry, sweetie, but I couldn't resist."
"Sure," she said, sarcastically. "I'll get you back later."
"Game on, Mrs. Payne," I said.
"Right, Mr. Payne," she remarks. We swim to the five feet side and rest along the edge.
"Aw, Liam look..." I turn to her and see her pointing at two couples holding a little boy in their hands. "They are so cute."
I lean my head close to her ear. "You sure you're not ready?"
Ally faces me and frowns, "No, not yet."
"Okay," I wrap my arms around her and pull her closer to me. I rub the side of her arm as I blow a kiss on the top of her head.
In a few moments, she pulls away and points toward the concession stand. "I'll be back. I need a snack." She looks at me and asks, "You want anything?"
"I'm good," I reply. She jumps out of the water and walks to the stand.
I turn around and decide to get out the water myself. I press my hands against the concrete and pull myself out. As I turn around, I hear a giggle from my wife in a distance. My eyes dart at her and widen as I see her standing next to a tall, well-built man. She nudged his arm in laughter. Anger washed over me the second, but I try cool myself down. I know that she is just being friendly.
I walk up to Ally and the stranger. "Hey, sweetheart," I said, wrapping my arm around her waist tightly.
Ally smiles and replies, "Hey. Liam, this is Neal. Neal, this is Liam, my husband."
I watch his eyes twitch as the words ran through his ears. Disappointment was all written in his face. I let out my hand, and he takes it and shakes it, a little too tight, but I brushed off. "Nice to meet you," I said. I turn to Ally, wondering, "Ally, do you know this Neal?"
"No, we just met," she answers with a big grin I never saw before.
"Just met?" I question. That explains why Ally was so flirty.
"I saw Ally standing at the concession and wanted to help her out," he explains.
My mind questions the words he chose: wanted to help. He was for sure trying to hit on her. "I'm sure Ally had no difficulties. She's a bright woman."
"I think so," he says, shifting his eyes at Ally.
"Of course you do," I remark.
Neal creases his brow and cocks his head. "Excuse me. Is there are problem?"
I shake my head. "Of course not. As long as you keep your hands away from my wife, there won't be," I reply.
I feel Ally pulling herself away from me. "Liam," she mumbles, but I ignored her.
"Listen, buddy," he begins. "I don't want no problems. I'll back off, okay?"
"Thank you," I said.
He walks off, and I release my hold on Ally. I turn to her, and she shakes her head in wonder. "Liam, what is wrong with you?" she questions me.
I open my mouth, releasing a breath of air before replying, "That man was trying to hit on you."
"No, he wasn't," Ally objected. "I was having trouble paying the cashier because I didn't bring enough. I bought some chips and a water bottle, and I bought you some airheads." She grabs the three airheads and tosses them at me and stomps away. My heart skipped a beat. My hands tremble as guilt overwhelms me.
I follow her around the pool to our chairs. "Ally, I'm sorry," I said, but she ignored it. She picks up her towel and sunscreen bottle, and I did too after I slip back into my tank top. She abandons me once more.
As we pass the edge of the pool, I yank her hands and force her to face me. "Ally, I—" before I could even finish the sentence, she jerks her hand back with a lot of force, pushing me back into the water. After a moment, I lost my senses but regains them after. I poke my head out of the water. I open my eyes and see Ally standing before, giving me an apologetic look.
She storms off, and I swiftly got out of the pool, soaked. I bare the squish of my sandals to catch up with Ally. She walks through the building and exits soon. I run as quickly as I can and finally caught up to her just before we reach the hotel.
I turn her entire body to face me, and I place my hands on her shoulders. I stare into her eyes and speak, "Ally, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
She creases her brows and shakes her head. Her expressions begin to resemble that day when she found out who I was. She sighs and pushes my hands off her shoulder. She opens her mouth to say something, only to be able to catch her breath. Her eyes grew with disappointment. Big disappointment. She turns around and walks into the building.
I slap myself in the face. Why? Oh, why? Liam, why did you have to get all jealous?
