Ally's POV
I pace myself for what he has to say. I can my heart pounding in my chest. My lungs feel like they were out of oxygen. I swallow hard and open my ears for his lecture.
His eyes looked so intense at me, still holding his fist. However, he released his grip and shook his head. He turn his head down on the floor in silence. I can only hear the sound of my breath, breathing in and out.
It's been a couple of minutes, and he hasn't spoke a word out since. He turns over to the couch and moves there. He takes a seat in front of the table, facing his back towards me. I follow him, and once I stood in front of him, I kneeled down. "Dad..." I spoke, breaking the silence. My voice is shaky, and I can hear it crack. "...I...um...this was not entirely Liam's fault."
"Save it," he says, turning his head away from me. "I just need to know something." I nod my head. "Do you trust him?"
"Yes, I do, Dad," I answer.
"More than me?" He questions, bring his sight back on me.
I shake my head. "Dad, you know how I am with decisions. I can't choose. It's like you asking who I love more: you or mom. You two always supported me and believed in me. I will always be grateful for that."
"So you are not going to stop seeing him?"
"No," I said softly. "Dad, I don't get why you are so against him. He has done nothing wrong."
"Nothing wrong, you say?" He cocks his head at me. "He poisoned Ms. Furry. He is murderer."
"Dad, you're making him seem like he is this...thug. He never had a cat in his entire life. He probably did not know,"
"Well, if I can't change your mind, then I guess I will have to surrender for now," he said. "I will let you be free with him. I will gladly stand by and let you be happy. However, if he ever makes you cry or does something to the point where you can't take it, promise me that you will come home and marry the person we want you to marry. Promise me."
"Dad? Why are you like this?"
"Ms. Furry was our family pet since you were in the eighth grade," he explains to me, "we loved her. She brought the biggest smile on your face. Her death represents how those memories, your happiness, will fade before you know it."
"Dad, I will always be like this," I told him. "No one, not even Liam, can destroy my happiness."
"Then promise me," he said.
I smile, responding, "I promise, Dad." I stand up and take a spot next to him. "I need to tell you something." He gives me his full undivided attention. "Liam and I are leaving tomorrow. I know that it's a short notice, and I'm sorry for not telling you earlier."
"It's alright," he replies, calmly than expected. "You guys may leave tomorrow. And I hope you are ready."
I crease my brow. "Ready? Ready for what?" I question.
"You will know," he smirks.
For the rest of the hours, I packed my suitcase and then rested in my bed, done for the day. I know my dad means well. But I don't understand why he does not like Liam. In the passed couple of days, they were getting along. Now he goes back to his previous assumptions about Liam. I really hope one day he will get along with him.
The next morning, I push the snooze button on my alarm. I uncover my sheets and went to the bathroom. Afterwards, I headed downstairs with my suitcase. Just when I arrived downstairs, I see Will entering the house. "Good morning," I greet him.
He studies my position and the suitcase I was carrying. "Morning. Ally, are you heading back already?"
"Yeah, Liam needs to catch up on his work," I answer.
"Must be hard for him, since he works at a jewelry store," Will states.
"Yeah, maybe, but I worked at a jewelry store before, so it's not really terrifying," I reply.
Will creases his brows, seeming confuse. "Has he told you where he works?"
I furrow my brows, brining my hands up and twirling my hair. "What?"
I hear someone's footsteps coming near us. "Liam did not tell you? Funny, I thought he would have told you by now."
I smile nervously, spinning my hair around my shoulders. "What are you saying?"
Will smiles, "Liam is the owner of P-"
"What's going on here?" Liam's voice roamed inside.
I turn my head and see Liam walking in, carrying his bag over his shoulder and in his other hand, his suitcase. Will turns around and answers Liam, "The truth."
Liam furrows his brow and gives him what looks to be a dirty look. His eyes stares at Will, intensely. I walk over and stand in front of Liam, placing my hands in front of Will to prevent him from coming any further. "I think you should go," I said to Will.
Will shifts his eyes on me and then turns back to Liam with a smug look. He walks out of the house, bumping Liam's shoulder on the way and enraging Liam. "Hey," I said, touching his cheek, forcing to look at me. "Don't give into him. He's probably upset."
Liam takes in a breath and smiles. "Alright," he says. I release my hand as he sets his bag down. "Our flight leaves at two, so we have roughly thirty minutes to spare. What do you want to do?"
"I still have to say my farewells," I answer him, grabbing onto his hand. "Come on. Let's do it together." I rush to the living room, where my parents rested. My mom was knitting while my dad was reading a magazine.
A smile lit up on my mom's face once she noticed our presence. "Mija," she sets her knitting kit down and open her arms up, waving her hands at me.
I moan as I run into her arms and wrap my arms around her tightly. "Oh, mom...I'm going to miss you," I told her.
She nodded, brushing my hair in the process. "You stay out of danger, and be careful on the trip back."
"I will, mom..." I said, giving her one last squeeze before releasing her from my grasp.
I see Liam shaking my dad's hand before looking back at me. We switch places, and I kneel before my dad. "Dad, I will see you later."
"I will see later too, hopefully, you are wearing white," he adds, making me confuse. He pats my head, smiling, "Shouldn't you guys be going? If you don't, you will miss your flight."
"Alright, Dad," I said, standing up and giving him a hug. "Take care of you and Mom."
"I always do," he replies. "And take care of you, Liam, and your heart, baby."
We parted. Liam and I walk out of the house and place our carryons in the back trunk. Since Brandon left three days ago to go to a convention in New York, Leeroy, a nearby neighbor, drove us to the airport.
"See you, Sir," I said, waving to him after Liam and I got out of the car. "Drive safe back."
"Thanks, Ally," Leeroy said, smiling. He brushes his blonde hair to the side and nodded. Liam stands beside me. Leeroy spoke, "Oh, son, you look just like me when I was your age. So handsome." He giggles.
Liam smiles and waves his hand. "Thanks for the compliment, mate. Please tell Yolanda that we say hi."
"Oh, and that we will miss her," I added.
"Sure will," he said. After a few seconds, he shifts the gear into drive and drives off.
Liam and I enter the airport and waited for a while until our destination was called for. We place our luggage up and sat next by one another. I sit by the window.
I look at the view. We were beginning to fly off the ground and into the beautiful blue sky. I lean back against the seat and turn to Liam, who was adjusting his seat. Once he was settle, he catches my gaze at him. He smiles, "What?"
"I'm just excited to be home again," I reply.
Liam smiles wider. "I am too, sweetheart." He grabs a hold of my hand and intertwines our fingers.
