"So how was the trip?" I asked her after we broke the embrace.
"Long and boring," Dinah said. "Especially if you are in a car by yourself. And I almost got a ticket."
"What? How?" I asked her.
"Well, there was a slow moving car in front of me and so, I press my horn. But they didn't do anything. So I tried passing them and I did, but I pass through two solid lines and there was also a car coming the opposite direction and I was thinking what to do. I just speeded and fortunately, I survive. And then the police caught me. I pulled over and he tried to give me a speeding ticket, but with some of my charm, I got myself out of a ticket."
I grinned. "Seems bittersweet," I said.
Dinah nodded and put down her phone. "Yep. And he was cute. But not as cute as one of the guy that I double dated with Camila."
"Want to come in?" I asked and she nodded in response. She looked directly at the house and was caught off guard by the size of it.
"This is the house that you're staying in?" Dinah questioned.
"Yes," I answered her. "Remember Liam?"
"The stranger who kept bumping into you?"
I nodded. "He invited me to stay with him while I was searching for you-know-who. Now, be gentle and polite. He has servants and although I don't consider them to be, it's nice to treat them with respect."
"Okay, mom," Dinah teased.
We walked into the mansion. I looked over at Dinah and saw that she was trying to be cool. Everything caught her eyes.
"This house can fit my whole family in here," Dinah said.
I nodded as we reached the dining room. Liam was still sitting down enjoying his lunch until he had caught Dinah's and my presence. Sandra and Gloria were standing right behind him, observing him eat. "Dinah, this is Liam and the two behind him are Sandra and Gloria respectively. Everyone, this is Dinah Jane."
Sandra smiled widely. "You look so much like Beyoncé. Are you two related?"
Dinah shook her head. "I wish."
Liam stood up as if he was in some kind of trance. He made his way and stood in front of us, Dinah especially, and let out a hand for her to shake. Dinah blushed a little and that somehow got me upset. I tried to remain calm. Dinah took his head and shook it. They both smiled at one another. I turned away, feeling uncomfortable.
"Nice to meet you," Dinah greeted.
"You too," Liam greeted back.
They didn't let go of each other's hand, so I walked away, not wanting to distract them of their gaze.
I wondered how long they were going to stay in their position. It felt like it has been a couple of minutes.
"Hey, Ally, are you going to finish your food?" Gloria asked me.
I turned to her and then at my plate. I shook my head. "Nah, I don't feel like eating anymore."
"Okay," Gloria said. She and Sandra begin to clean up the table.
"Do you guys mind if I help?" I asked them.
"If you don't mind it yourself," Gloria answered.
"Nope, I don't," I said. "In fact, cleaning is one of my favorite hobbies." Gloria smile. I helped pick up plates and silverwares and set them in the sink. I volunteered to wash the dishes.
