I jump up a little, feeling my head heavy as I sit on the couch. I shake my head, reminding myself that I have to be awake. I get out my phone and check the time. It is 7:54. Almost eight o'clock.
I set down my phone and observe my surrounding. There was no sound. Only silence. And I have never heard silence quite this loud before.
I sit straight and rub my eyes and ears. I face forward, looking at Liam's body now as he rested on his back, and bat my eyes a couple of times until they met Liam's. I smile, seeing him awake. However, that slowly fades as he sends me the same look.
"Why are you here?" He asks, his voice hoarse as his fingers dig for the sheets.
I stand up and help pull the sheets off of him.
"Did you not here me?" He asks coldly. I stare at him. "Why are you here?"
I prepare to hear his insults at me as I speak, "I am your wife. I know whatever you are saying is not really you."
He props his elbows against the bed. I grab his arm to help him sit up, but he removes my hand. "Where's Cheryl?" He asks, and I look at him, straight in the eyes.
I pace myself and answer him, "Cheryl went home."
"Did you kick her out? You couldn't stand me being with her," he taughts.
I crease my brow, not knowing what to feel. I take a moment to regather my thoughts. I look at him and put on a smile, "Liam, I am—"
"My wife! I know," he interrupts, enraged. "How many times do you have to shove that down my throat? I'm tired of hearing it."
I shake my head and speak softly, "Liam—"
"Why are you still here?" He asks, leaning forward. "Haven't I made it very clear that I don't want you to be here?"
"Liam, I—" I try to speak, but he wouldn't give me a chance.
He roams his hands under the pillow behind him and lifts it in his hands. "Get out!" He tosses the pillow at me.
I take a few steps away from him, catching the pillow in my hands. I stare at him, clenching my fist. I wait until he calms down before I speak once more. "Liam. Please let me talk." He chucks a heavy solid box at me.
I quickly jump away, bending my ankle and falling to the ground. I catch my breath, falling on my side, and slowly turn to Liam. His eyes didn't show no joy nor remorse. I stand up slowly, feeling my ankle ache. I groan softly and turn to see what Liam would do. And he did nothing. That's when I decided to just go. He sits there, watching me limp to the door.
I inhale my breath slowly, letting my breathing ease my emotions. I walk out and see Kris sleeping on the chair with a wrapped up sandwich from Subway laid beside him. I fix my clothing and hair and tap his shoulder. He opens his eyes up, confuse about his whereabouts until he laid his eyes on me. He smiles and lets out a yawn as he stretches his arms.
"Ally, what are you doing?" He asks, sitting up straight.
I smile at him, half real and the other half fake. "I'm ready to go home."
"I thought you might want to stay here overnight," he says, but I shake my head. If I stay here, I wouldn't make it through the night, physically and emotionally.
"Alright," he grabs the sandwich and leads me to the car. I try my best to not yelp the pain on my ankle.
Once we reach his car, I quickly sit down before he can notice anything and buckle my seatbelt. He turns on the engine and drives off. I rest my eyes, feeling myself more tire than ever today. I just need a small nap. That's it.

"You made me feel like I was crazy. You would never answer my questions properly. You made me a fool. I trusted you. Believed in you. And now..." Tears fell down on my face, but I wiped it instantly. I paced myself and took a step closer to him. I had my confidence back. "Answer me. And I don't want a vague answer. I want the truth. Now!"Liam gave a tiny nod. His lips were quivering. "I can't say." My heart sank.
"Why not?!" My voice raged on. I walked to him. "I gave you everything. My hands. My lips. My h-heart." Tears fell down once more. This time, I didn't stop it. I grabbed his hand and held it against my chest. "If you love me, you can trust me."
"I..." he started out to say. He put his free hand on top of mine and pulled it away. He sets it on his cheek. His eyes were getting puffy. "...I can't." I closed my mouth, hearing him say those words. "There's just some things that you don't understand."
I opened my mouth and breathed. "What is it then? I just need you to tell me the truth for once."
Liam nodded his head, releasing my hand off of his cheek. Suddenly, his face changed into Kris, not like there was any difference really, but I knew that it wasn't Liam anymore. A angry expression held onto Kris's face, taughting me. I took a step back and gasped.
—
I open my eyes and his eyes hovered over mine. "Liam?" I question. He takes a step out of the car, revealing himself to be Kris. For a moment, I believed he was Liam."I didn't mean to wake you," he says.
I look around me and notice that we were at his house. I take a step out and immediately feel my ankle ache. I lost my balance and fall forward until Kris catches me in his arms. I look at him, and I have the weirdest feeling.
"I'm sorry," I said. I continue to walk to the door normally, sucking the pain in. Kris advises me to go to the kitchen, so I did.
I sit down at the counter, feeling my eyes sink and my mind shutting off, but I shake the feeling away. Kris stands in front of me and opens up his sandwich. He gets out a knife and cuts the sandwich in half. "I recognize that you didn't eat the whole day, so you must be starving," Kris says. He hands me half of the sandwich, but I shake my head.
"No, but thanks," I reply. "I'm not really hungry at the moment."
"Come on," he says, not giving up. "I know it will mean a lot for Liam to see you healthy."
I look at him and smile, not because of what he said but because of what he doesn't know. I grab the sandwich and take a bite out of the tasteful sandwich. If I wasn't too depress, I would feel like this was the best sandwich ever.
As I chew, it was hard to swallow without me breaking into tears, thinking about this whole day. Thinking about Kris' kindness and Liam's...cruelty. I wipe away the small speck of tear coming down my right cheek.
"Are you alright?" Kris asks.
I nod my head, completely lying. No, I wasn't alright. Liam...he hates me. It's like he completely fell out of love with me. And I don't know why. The looks he keeps on giving me reminds me too much of the ones Kris gave me. And Kris's generosity resembles Liam's during our friendship.
Unless...
I turn to Kris and watch him take a bite out of the sandwich. There is that weird feeling again of familiarity. And another weird thing coming up my throat. I set my sandwich and cover my mouth as I begin to gag a little.
I stand up and completely forgot about my ankle. I didn't care if I was limping. All I know is that I needed to go to the bathroom. I exit the kitchen. My mind suddenly begins to be dizzy. I feel someone's hands holding my arms for support, but I remove their hands.
In the corner of my eyes, I see my dad-in-law with Jen, stopping to observe. My mind snaps, and I collapse to the ground. I touch the top of my forehead, wondering why I feel so dizzy and light-headed.
I hear Kris coming my way until, "Kris, don't touch her," I hear Geoff lecture. "Jen can take care of her."
"Dad, she's not feeling well," Kris says.
"She is Liam's wife," Geoff replies.
Jen comes to my aid and helps me stand up. She grabs a hold of both of my arms. She turns me around. My vision blurs as I take in my surrounding.
Even though I can't see Kris clearly, I know that he is worry. And somehow, I know it. I know who Kris really is. I breathe in slowly, feeling my eyelids sinking. Thinking about it now, Kris and Liam really only have their own distinct personalities. Kris only sees me as someone he despised while Liam only cares for me. It's not hard to see who is which. And Kris is Liam. I know that he is. I just...
