Whenever I say goodnight, I really mean goodbye.
Because I'm not sure if I'll be there in the morning.
I'm no longer aware of whether I'll fall asleep tonight and wake up in the morning.
Not because I fear I'll die in my sleep.
But because I might decide wake and leave.
Or maybe even never wake because I didn't get the chance to sleep.
When I say goodnight I really mean goodbye because I'm afraid that I don't have much time.
So goodnight to everyone who knew me,
I think that I am off to bed.
I wish that someone saw right through me,
Before I wound up dead.
The flicker of my life before,
A glimmer of the life I knew.
I wish that you had understood
that I had said goodbye to you.
Goodnight to all my friends and family,
I hope you all live long and happy.
Because whenever I say goodnight, I really just mean goodbye.
