Chapter 16

Emily's POV

As soon as I saw Sal walk in, I felt my heart bursting out of my chest. He looked so beautiful with his gelled hair, red hoodie and jeans. His green eyes shimmering in the light and his smile could be seen a mile away.

I was sat in the booth, on the end next to Q, and a Murr was beside Q. And on the opposite side was Joe, and Sal soon sat beside him, opposite me. I looked down, trying not to look at Sal as I was nervous as to what I should say. Q began talking to me again about comics and I just nodded, not processing what he was saying as I was just thinking about my kiss with Sal.

Sal's POV
As soon as I sat down, I couldn't help but admire the beautiful girl sat opposite me. As i built up my confidence, I decided to grab a drink from the counter at the diner.
"Anyone want a drink?" I asked everyone sat at the table.
"No thanks" Q, Joe and Murr replied.
"Em?" I asked her, gently nudging her arm to grab her attention. She slowly looked up at me with a smile and replied
"No thank you". I smiled and nodded and walked to order a drink.

I sat on the stools in front of the counter and glanced back over to Emily. I smiled to myself then thought how could I get her alone to ask her to go out with me. For over the 28 years of our friendship, she would always be hanging out with me; even if we were by the other guys she would hover around with me. And the one time I want her to be hovering by me on her own; she ends up talking to the other guys.

The waitress handed me my drink as I headed back to the table. As Joe, Q and Murr were talking amongst themselves, I slowly sipped my drink until i finally whisked up the courage to ask her out.

Emilys POV
I looked up to see Sal smiling at me, which made me smile. He suddenly got up from his chair and whispered in my ear
"Could I talk to you.. in private please?" He shyly asked. I nodded and held his hand as he led me into the order of the diner, near the bathrooms. I glanced back to see Joe nudge Q and Murr and point over to me and Sal. I was leaning against the wall with Sal stood quite close in front me. I could see he was nervous by the way he was swinging his left leg and staring shyly at the ground.
"I.. er..wanted" he mumbled. He then looked up at me and smiled at me, his eyes staring deeply into mine.
"Yeah?" I asked, getting excited by the hope he may be asking me out.
"I was wondering... if you'd like to go out with me?" He asked with a cute smile.
"Definitely!" I shouted with excitement. I wrapped my hands around him as he placed a soft kiss on my lips.
