Sal scrolled through the pages of houses in Brooklyn, confused as to why I'd even be looking. He held the laptop in his hand, and ran downstairs. I had just settled Connor down for his nap. I looked up at Sal who had confusion in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" I asked with a nervous laugh, as soon as I saw the laptop he was holding.
"What's this? Houses in Brooklyn??" Sal questioned.
"I... I was just looking" I justified.
"But why? We have a home here... in Staten Island" he answered.
"I know-".
"So why do you have to look at houses that are further away?!" Sal argued.
"Because-" I begun. I debated wether or not to tell him.
"Is this your way of saying your leaving me??" He asked.
"Of course not!!" I reassured him.
"Then what is this about?" Sal asked.
"When I was in Brooklyn.... I got offered the job of co-manager, alongside Jim. And I knew I couldn't take it, because I couldn't drag us.. Connor and Scarlett away from Staten Island. Away from your job.. our families. But the more I thought about it.. the more I wanted this opportunity. So I was just curious to see if there were any houses for sale" I revealed. Sal sighed to himself, knowing how eagerly I wanted this job. He slumped in the sofa with out saying a thing. I sat calmly beside him, not saying a word. I saw him crack a smile to himself as he spun the laptop around to me.
"What is it?" I asked.
"We could move here! It's three bedrooms, a nice price too" Sal explained.
"Where is it?" I asked.
"In Bay Ridge" Sal revealed. "That's exactly 27 minutes from Staten Island, where I work, and 33 minutes from Brooklyn, where you want to work. It's exactly in between our work!" Sal told me with a smile.
"Wait... I can actually get my job??" I asked.
"Of course!! You've wanted nothing more all your life. I'm here to see you happy. I love you so much, I'd give you the world if I could. So... we will buy and check out the house tomorrow.. and move there where we can both be happy" Sal told me with an adorable smile, as he pulled me close to him. Our temples rested on the others.
"Thank you" I said.
"I'd do anything for you" Sal replied, as he planted a kiss on my lips.
