"What are you doing back so early?" I asked him, my hands still wrapped around his neck.
"I just missed you both so much, and I wanted to surprise you" Sal told me.
"Maybe you could spend some time with Scarlett later, and I could get some sleep" I said to him.
"What if your parents take her for a night?" Sal asked.
"I don't want to burden them at this moment" I said to him, and just as I finished my sentence my phone rang. It was my mum.
"Hiya mum" I said.
"Emily!! Quick help!" She begged with a hint of upset in her voice.
"Mum, slow down. What's wrong?" I asked her.
"It's your dad!" She said, I could visualise the tears rolling down her cheeks.
"What's.. wrong with him?" I asked with tears filling my eyes.
"He's had a heart attack" she told me. "I'm with the paramedics and they're taking him down the hospital now" she informed me.
"It's okay Mum. I'm on my way" I said. I hung up the phone and stood there in shock.
"Are you okay?" Sal asked me with a worried expression.
"It's my dad" I said with tears streaming down my face. Sal ran up to me and held me tightly in his secure arms.
"I'm here for you, don't worry" he soothingly whispered into my ear as he placed a kiss on my cheek.
