It was 6pm!! The time the wedding was starting!! My dad was walking me down the aisle. The music began to play but I froze. I couldn't move.
"Are you okay??" My dad asked me. I shook my head no.
"I can't do this" I said. "I mean... I want to. But I can't. Not in front of everyone. What if he says no?" I say. "I gotta... I gotta go" I said, running off and sat on the side of the rooftop, my legs dangling over the edge. I just needed a few minutes. I was very anxious when it came to standing in front of crowds.

My dad knew the only person to calm me down would be Sal. After our 28years of friendship, Sal's the only one who truly knows how to make me feel better. He's the only one who understands what I go through.
My dad ran down the aisle and told Sal. My dad stayed behind and stalled everyone, when Sal came out to me. He sat beside me and wrapped his arms around me.
"Are you okay, Em?" He asked.
"No... its just... all those people" I said.
"Listen, what did I tell you when we were 17 and you had to give that presentation in front of the whole class?" Sal asked me.
"You told me to only look into your eyes and forget about everyone" I answered. Sal tilted my chin up, making my eyes in line with his.
"Then take my advice again. Just look at me, and forget about everyone" he advised me. I nodded and he went to get up but I sagged him back down. He looked at me confusingly. I wrapped my arms around him and rested my head on his shoulders, over looking New York at sunset.
"I love you" I spoke softly. "Let's get married" I said with a smile. We held hands and we walked down the aisle, hand in hand, together.

We stood in front of the vicar, face to face. I looked into Sal's green eyes, letting a smile form on my lips, as he smiled at me.
"Welcome, friends and family. We gather here today to celebrate the wedding of Emily and Sal" the officiant said.
"Do you Sal take Emily to be your wife?" The officiant asked Sal.
"I do" he replied, smiling at me.
"Emily, do you take Sal to be your husband?" The officiant asked me.
"Shall we say with the vows?" He asked. Me and Sal both nodded. We wrote our own vows.
"I Sal, take you Emily to be my wife. Your my soulmate, I love you more than anything. One the first of October, 1989, you bumped into me in school. We were just strangers but soon after we became best friends. I'm so glad we bumped into each other that day, because ever since I've felt nothing but love towards you. We have been in every part of each other's lives, from high school to college to our first jobs. I love you and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you" Sal said, making me well up. He guided my hand up and opened it and placed a crumbled piece of paper in my hand. I looked at him confused. He then leaned next to me and whispered quietly in my ear.
"The 14 year old me knew we'd end up together" he whispered. I opened the piece of paper, and it was the page from his diary. The date we first met- the page I read before saying how he had fallen in love with me. I smiled at him warmly and mouthed I loved him. Everyone was trying to figure out what he whispered, and what the piece of paper was.
"Emily?" The officiant said.
"I Emily, take you Sal to be my husband. Your my best friend, my soulmate and hopefully my husband if this ends well" I joked gaining a few laughs. "I love you more than anything. The love I feel for you, I didn't even know existed. I can't think of anyone I'd rather be with other than you" I said.
"Rings??" The officiant said as Murr handed me Sal's ring, and Joe handed Sal my ring.
"I give you this ring as a daily reminder of the love I have for you" Sal said, as he slipped the ring on my finger.
"I give you this ring as a daily reminder if the love I hold for you" I replied as I placed the ring into Sal's finger.
"By the power of your love and commitment, and the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife! Sal you may kiss the bride" the officiant said.
Sal pulled me close to him, his hands on my hips as I wrapped my hands around his neck, as he gently dipped me down and planted a soft kiss on my lips.
"I love you" we said in unison.
