The next morning I woke up to the delicious smell of waffles being made. I turned over to my side and saw Sal was not there, so I presumed he was making breakfast. I grabbed my robe and made my way into the kitchen. I saw the table with flowers in the centre and two plates on either side, accompanied by a cup of coffee.
"What's all this?" I asked Sal, as I took a seat.
"I just wanted to treat you before you go off to work" Sal said to me.
"Aww that's so sweet" I said, as we began to eat. "So what are you doing at work today?" I asked Sal.
"We are punishing Murray today. What are you doing??" Sal asked me.
"We have to plan a meeting, then go to a meeting" I whined.
"We?" Sal asked.
"Yeah, me and Graham" I explained. I saw Sal roll his eyes, as a hint of annoyance overcame him.
"Right" he said in an annoyed tone, getting up and storming off. I took a deep breath and followed him.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"No nothing" Sal muttered, getting his keys ready to go off to work.
"Tell me" I said to him, blocking the door so he couldn't go.
"It's just... Im...jealous" Sal said.
"Of what? Graham?" I asked Sal.
"No.. well..yeah kinda. It's just he seems to be spending a lot more time with you than I am" Sal said.
"But that's like how Q, Murr and Joe spend more time with you than I do some days. It's called having a job!" I said with a little laugh.
"Yeah but soon you'll be spending that much time with him you won't want to be with me" Sal said, with a saddened look. I wrapped my hands around his neck and leaned my forehead on his.
"Sal, I love you and I'll always want to be with you. There's nothing to be jealous of" I reassured him.
"I guess" Sal said, giving me a kiss. "I better go" Sal said, therefore stepping away from the door. I felt bad for Sal but there was nothing to be jealous about!Around 8am I walked up to my driveway, to go to my car. That was until I realised my car was still in my work car park, broken.
"Seriously!" I said to myself. I quickly got out my phone and rang my office. To my surprise Graham picked up.
"Hello?" Graham said.
"Hi, it's Emily" I began. "I'm gonna be late because my car is still at work and I'm gonna have to pay loads for a taxi" I complained.
"No need, I'll pick you up" Graham offered.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Of course" he said. After I gave him my address he quickly made his way to pick me up. He rolled up in his posh black car and walked out to meet me as I was sat on my doorstep. He was wearing a black suit today, dressed quite smartly.
"You ready?" Graham asked, holding out his hand to help me up. I grabbed hold of his hand then let go once I landed on my feet. He opened up the passenger door for me and then got in the car. The car was spotless and so posh.
"You have a really nice car" I said, admiring every inch.
"Thank you" he spoke. Again- he never said much.
"And thank you so much for picking me up" I added. Graham nodded at me and continued to drive.Once we reached the office, Graham and me walked up to our desks and sat down.
"So what time is the meeting?" Graham asked me, as he began to type away in the computer.
"1 o clock" I answered. Graham just smiled warmly at me. "So how do you like working here?" I asked him.
"The people are nice" he said smiling at me again. I just nodded and continued with my work.****
Me and Graham made our way to the conference room when we saw the rest of the staff, and members of other companies. I kept taking deep breaths as I usually got nervous when it came to meetings, especially as I had to give a presentation.
"Are you nervous?" Graham asked me.
"Yep" I said, becoming even more nervous as more and more people arrived.
"Calm down. You got me by your side" Graham told me as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I nodded then walked in the meeting. I sat beside Graham and Lindsey, another co worker. She was talking to some other women so I joined in their conversation.
"I can't believe Tanya got that promotion!" I said to Lindsey.
"Promotion? There was no promotion. She quit!" Lindsey explained. I was very confused. How come my best friend would lie to me and say she had a promotion!?
