*Angel!Goku and Demon!Vegeta AU!*
A thousand years ago, after the defeat of Paimon, the demonic Prince of Wrath, the Lord and the Son made a decision to reform all the stray demons left in the wake of the war. So, once an angel reached a certain rank, they were assigned one demon as their companion in the quest for reformation.
But... the one I got was... not demonic at all.
Michael looked him over with some confusion, even going as far as checking his pristine white teeth. "Goodness! He doesn't look right," the archangel declared. "I've never seen a demon like this. Do you think it might be an illusion against his true form?" He turned to Gabriel.
The other angel shrugged.
The demon in question- my demon- was tiny. His appearance was nearly as fair as ours. His caramel skin matched smoothly with the black of his ratted wings, and his black eyes held a glint of mischief.
"He... He looks like poor Lucifer," Gabriel whispered. The King of Pride had been slain many years ago by the Lord's own hand.
Michael again peered at his teeth. "Huh. Wonder what his sin is? Ooh, Gabe, look at these teeth!" he added in a hiss, admiring the demon's mouth.
For his part, my demon didn't seem to mind having his mouth messed with so much. He stood patiently, eyes half closed as he waited for them to finalize our binding. This ritual prevented a demon from turning on their caretaker, and the angel from doing harm to their charge out of frustration. But Michael and Gabriel were oohing and aahing over his freaking mouth and there was nothing he could do about it...
He gives me a bored, side-ways glance. He really is as beautiful as the ancient King. I never saw him myself, but I've seen pictures and memories of the older angels. I smile sweetly at him, and he pulls his lips back in a returning grin, although it's half impeded by the other two angels.
I never did understand their... childish behavior. Maybe it comes with age?
Finally Michael got his head in the game and stepped back. "Well, I think he's definitely suitable for you, Goku." He glanced at me over his shoulder. "Take good care of him." He looked back at my demon. "So, what's your name and sin?"
The beautiful creature shyly looked away. "..." Then he shakes his head.
Gabriel looked vaguely traumatized. "Wait.. Whadda we do if they say no?"
Michael rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "Come on, tenebris. What's your name and sin?"
"..." The demon squirmed and looked away. He was... cute. "I..." He sniffles and squeezes his eyes shut. "Iamcalledvegetaimalustdemon," he blurts, too fast for us to make out.
This is new. I don't think we've ever had a shy demon before, and this one is as shy as a human... Michael tries to sort out the syllables but shakes his head. "Try again. Loud and clear."
"I-..." His wings come up around his head, which he violently shakes.
Michael and Gabriel are baffled. I am too. Seeing that the higher angels were not going to get an answer out of him, I decided to give it a try. I took his arm gently- he flinched at my glowing touch, signifying he was still affected by his sins- and took him aside. "I'm Goku," I said with a friendly smile. He tilted his head in interest. "I'll be your reformer. I know you're nervous, but I promise to be nice. What's your name?"
The demon looked down at his feet. "My name is Vegeta," he said softly.
I nodded. That was enough. Gabriel could search through the Artifacts to find his sin. "Thank you. Are you ready to do the binding? It's scary, but the sooner we get it done, the better. Then we can get to know each other."
He seemed confused- even slightly annoyed- by our gentle treatment. I guess he expected us to be cruel, considering his kind are technically our dark counterpart and were our enemies for years unnumbered. But the Lord asked us to care for them as if they were our brothers, so we will because we love Him.
Michael motioned us over. "Let's do this," he said with a smile. He set a darkened hand on my heart and bright hand on Vegeta's. The little demon whimpered in fear and pain, but Michael shushed him soothingly. "In the holy name of our Father, we ask for a celestial binding to bring this, our brother, back to the Light. Your child has been deemed ready to do Your divine work, and we ask for Your blessing on him and his charge."
A moment later, I hiss in slight pain and look at my left wrist. A black, swirling design has been inscribed into my pale skin. I look at Vegeta and see him staring at an identical mark on his right wrist, although his was white. I grinned excitedly at him. "This is gonna be fun!"
Vegeta didn't look too enthusiastic, but I was positive that I could get him to like me, maybe even reform and be restored to his original form!
*Continuation? You guys can decide!*
