His eyes fluttered open, even though there was nothing that could have awakened him in the Void but his ancient prey turned Sliver. It was actually amusing how he'd never had- or even seen- a Sliver before he went to Earth some forty years ago and found himself a luscious specimen...
The Shadow glanced down at this point. In the endless dark his Sliver seemed almost to have dissolved slightly, his image thin and blurry. Vegeta, he called softly in the voice of the Saiyan's beloved. Wake up. Come with me.
The Void rippled as Vegeta's image sharpened into focus. He opened his eyes slowly. The Shadow shivered at the sight. His skin had become almost grey, and his eyes appeared dim, filmed over by cataracts. Frankly he looked like a long dead corpse that refused the surrender to rot and decomposure. It was a thrilling result. A perfect Sliver.
Kakarrot? His voice was thin, barely audible from disuse.
Come, "Kakarrot" repeated. He held out a dark hand for Vegeta to grasp. Vegeta reached up creakily. His body hadn't moved in forty years, and he'd forgotten how to use it, frankly. Once their hands touched, the Shadow pulled him close and whispered, Hold on. The Void tore open, pulling them out like a tide. They were back on Earth now. His body shielded Vegeta from the moon granting light to the darkened planet, but still the Saiyan flinched at the sudden brightness. He looked out from behind his shield to glare at the light source, then paused.
Kch... Aahh... Vegeta stared at the moon in awe. He moved past Kakarrot and stood fully exposed to the moon. I... forgot...
Yes, Kakarrot replied, amused. He could sense the ecstasy from his Sliver. Who would have thought that that much joy could come from simply gazing at the moon? Perhaps it was because his pet was a Saiyan; they did have a close bond to the moon, after all. It is beautiful. And blood in its light is just as captivating.
Yes...
The Shadow inhaled, enjoying the feeling that radiated from Vegeta. It was... almost physical pleasure. He gazed swiftly through his pet's memories. Never before had moonlight had such an effect upon a Saiyan. Wait... There was a single incident...
~~Flashback~~
"Come on, Vegeta, please!"
Goku laughed, grabbing Vegeta's gloved hands. The Prince could smell the forest around him; he had just returned from a hunt or something. The gesture made Vegeta's heart race, but his reputation demanded that he pull away. So he did. "Why? What's s-so special about tonight?"
The younger Saiyan grinned. "It's called a super moon! They're really rare here on Earth. This'll be the only one in a really long time! I wanted to see it with you, Vegeta! You said the moon is the absolute center of our culture, so I wanted to show you something special about our moon!"
He'd been won over at "super moon".
So Vegeta and Goku sat on Capsule Corps. roof, waiting for the moon to rise. They sat silently, awkward and not sure what to say. Goku broke the silence. "Hey... Thanks so much for coming out here with me tonight. It means a lot to me. I know you love the moon. After our spars, if it goes on into the night, you just stare at the moon while you rest. It's like you're in love with it. I feel like that sometimes too, but I've never seen you look at the moon and not smile."
Vegeta was glad of the dark, for it hid a flush. Goku watched him after their spars? "You'd likely whine and complain if I refused," he said brusquely. "And besides, I needed an excuse to get away from the woman. As awful as it sounds, I'd rather be with you than her." He remained silent after that, praying to Begeta that the idiot would see the clear implication in that simple statement. When Goku didn't reply, he went on, ""And... yes, I- I do like the moon. Even though we don't have our tails, the blutz waves still affect us. It gives us a sense of power, security. It's Begeta lending us her power, however temporarily."
