*After many many many MANY months comes the second part to Insomniac!*

Hearing Vegeta's faint mumbling and whimpering at nothing at all broke Goku's heart. The sleepless Saiyan had grown hypersensitive, especially to touch. Six days of staring into open space had slowly torn open his many phobias and anxieties for any and all to see.

He was deathly afraid of anything that resembled a snake or a rope... or, as Goku learned very specifically, a tail. He hated the cold even more than they originally realized. He trusted no one but Goku near him in these moments, and even that took a lot of gentle convincing.

Vegeta shook like a leaf as Goku held him in his arms. Being touched made his skin crawl and prickle and gods, he hated it, but he needed Goku to hold him. "Or it'll get m- me," he cried into the other's shoulder. Goku just hushed him and tried to get him to rest, but once Vegeta started, he couldn't stop. "It won't touch you, won't get near you, if you're here you keep me safe, I'm safe-" He twitched, silent for a second only before rambling on. "Only after me, don't know what it wants, it wants me, Kakarrot, please stay, please don't let it get me, please..."

He had to do it now. It was probably a horrible idea- the worst of all ideas, he imagined- but he had a theory and he wanted to test it. "Yeah, I'm right here," he said quietly, loud enough for the shivering, panting Prince to hear but not so loud as to overstimulate his mind. It was bad enough that Vegeta was talking and being held and being spoken to all in so short a time period. Vegeta didn't scream or start having another seizure, so he figured he was ok for now. "Can you breathe in for me? Just like that, and out. Good. Great job." He waited a few moment for Vegeta's senses to settle before resting a hand on his back. "Ok," he whispered. "I need you to stay really really quiet and calm for me, ok?"

Vegeta twitched for a few moments- too much at once- then said, "Are you leaving!?"

"No," Goku whispered. "Not leaving. Right here." He shortened his sentences to provide as little thought as possible to process his words. Vegeta seemed a little calmer than normal. Good. "No matter what... calm, quiet. Ok? No matter what." He glanced up at Bulma, who stood in the doorway. The two were curled up together in one of Capsule's guest rooms. The windows were blocked so no light could enter, and although the lights were on for now, they wouldn't be for long...

Bulma's hand rested on a light dimmer. When Goku nodded slightly, she slowly began to turn it down. It was vital that they do it very gradually. Vegeta would panic otherwise. A low whine crept out of Vegeta's mouth when it got so low, and here Bulma stopped. Vegeta moaned softly, his grip on Goku's shirt growing tighter. Goku could do little to comfort him though; further touching would set him off, noise of any kind right now would set him off, no stimulation at all would set him off-

But then, to Goku's infinite surprise and relief, Vegeta settled again, resting his head against Goku's chest. Goku exhaled slowly, grinning at Bulma. Maybe this would work after all. Maybe even when they were in complete darkness. And when Vegeta, his subconscious specifically, realized that there was nothing to be afraid of, he might finally fall asleep.

After a few minutes, Bulma again slowly reduced the lighting. It was an agonizing pace, but both Bulma and Goku remained patient. Vegeta's whole body suddenly went rigid and Goku held his breath. Begeta, please don't let it be another seizure, please- He continued to hold his breath even when Vegeta went limp again, panting softly. This was getting completely out of hand. When he went rigid again, Goku fought the urge to cling onto Vegeta. There was nothing he could do without making it worse. He just had to let it pass. This was sickening to watch. Vegeta couldn't even breathe like this, so when he dropped out of it again, he was partially out of breath.
