The minute Vegeta finally gave in to his screams was the moment Goku's heart broke. He held up the massive ball of ki as best he could and almost tried to ignore Vegeta's helpless cries. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he gasped through his gathering tears. He hated the way Buu laughed mockingly in response to Vegeta's agony. Hurry, please, he silently prayed to those helping throughout the universe.

Vegeta was beyond the point of fighting. He took each strike as limply as a doll. His blackened throat was again squeezed mercilessly. All he could do was gasp and gag and focus on keeping the darkness that threatened to flood his eyes at bay. If he passed out now... he was sure that he would not awaken for a long, long time.

Goku felt a flood of relief when the good Buu and Hercule finally saved Vegeta from the brunt of the evil Majin's attacks. He could not tear his eyes away from the limp form of the Saiyan Prince. When he saw movement, his gasp of relief surprised even him. But his relief melted back into fear when he realized that Vegeta was heading back into the fight. No. Stop. Stop, you can't fight anymore.

Buu immediately left beating his counterpart senseless in favor of continuing his fun with Vegeta. Goku realized that the bomb was finally big enough to throw. "Vegeta, get out of there!" he yelled down. "Vegeta!"

Vegeta heard Goku through a bloody daze. His entire world was spinning harshly, thrown more and more out of whack with each continuous blow from Buu. He was on the ground now, likely with broken ribs as Buu's foot smashed down on his chest. He was so close to completely blacking out, and at this point, he prayed he would.

Goku did not hear or see any reaction from Vegeta's lifeless body, and his heart clenched as he feared the worst. "Vegeta!" he screamed. "You've gotta get up! Please! You've- Vegeta! You gotta get out of there! I can't throw it!"

Buu's expression became one of dark curiosity. Goku couldn't throw it... The Majin sneered and began to fire ki at the Saiyan above, all the while, crushing down harder with his foot. It upset him a bit that Vegeta no longer made any sounds, but now he had a new toy to play with. Goku yelped at the ki hitting his body, but tried desperately to hold up the bomb.

In a last-minute miracle, the other Majin came rocketing forward and knocked Buu off his feet, freeing Vegeta and reprieving Goku from the attack. Hercule scrambled in, snagging Vegeta and running the other way to get out of the bomb's blast range. Now was his chance. Both Buu's would be gone, unfortunately, but it would mean the end of all the chaos and death. Goku spent only a heartbeat summoning the strength to throw the massive ball, but the moment he had, something in his gut told him that it wasn't enough.

Sure enough, Buu turned and caught the bomb. He began to push back, sending the bomb on a slow return to its caster. Goku's insides went cold. "No!" he shrieked as the Majin picked up speed, launching it back into the air with a roar. "No!"

Kakarrot.

All Goku could see was the bomb's light as it filled his entire field of vision. "No..."

Kakarrot.

Suddenly Goku's energy returned full force. He gasped, only recovering just in time to freeze the bomb. He powered up to his highest and chuckled. "Sorry, Buu. Maybe someday you can back. But as a better person, yeah?" With a roar as savage as Buu's, he sent the bomb back into the Majin's face at full speed. Buu's shrieks were loud and clear as the bomb finally exploded.

Mind spinning, he slowly landed. It was over. It was finally over.

"Goku!"

Goku looked over to Hercule quickly, then saw Vegeta shivering and gasping on the ground. "No, no, no, Vegeta?" he gasped, dropping to his knees beside his friend. His stomach clenched nauseatingly when he saw two ribs jutting out of Vegeta's side. "Oh, God. Hey, hey, hang on, just breathe, ok? You're gonna be ok, I-" Goku hated the wet gagging sound Vegeta made as he struggled just to breathe. "Don't try to swallow. It's blood. It's just gonna make you sick." Goku frantically- but gently- shifted Vegeta so that he could more easily spit out the increasing flow of blood. "Shh, easy."
