Desire

Of course they'd met eyes several times through the evening. It happened every time they were in each other's presence. And of course their friends and families assumed they were just keeping a wary eye on each other, but the growing desire in their eyes went unnoticed by all.

Vegeta was praying- literally praying at this point- that he could chase away this ridiculous need with enough whiskey to drown a lesser man. His wife worriedly noted his disquiet, but she said nothing. The cool spring air wafted through the building through open windows. With the breeze came the heavy, addicting smell of Goku's lust. Vegeta quickly downed another shot. He realized that the minute he stood up, it was going to hit him all at once, and that he was making a huge mistake drinking as much as he had, but another glance at his distant suitor washed those thoughts away.

Goku's frame leaned against the doorway, and he no longer even pretended to not have his eyes totally fixed on the Saiyan Prince. He'd been drinking too; his gaze, deep and heated, carried a shimmer. He so infrequently wore casual wear that it made him look like a completely different man. His jeans hugged every inch of him in a gorgeous, but not revealing, way. His shirt was a different story. It was so tight that even the slightest movement threatened to rip it apart, and seeing the rock hard muscles ripple under the delicate fabric brought a flood of drool to Vegeta's mouth.

Vegeta found himself opening another bottle of the amber fire. A small, pale hand landed on his. He looked up. Bulma frowned in concern. "Are you ok?" she asked softly. Her eyes told him that she knew that something was amiss. Maybe she even knew what...

"I'm... fine. Stressed." He kept his reply short, as he always did. She could read what messages he left hidden in his abrupt replies. She'd always had a knack for reading what he was truly feeling, and this time was no different.

"Do you want to call it a night?" Her eyes were watchful now. He guessed that she suddenly realized how much alcohol was currently in his system; he himself was definitely starting to feel it, and unlike he had hoped, the fire deep in his stomach only grew.

He took a deep breath and finally stood. Just as he'd predicted, his senses reeled. He gripped the table to keep his balance and exhaled carefully. Bulma saw it. Her hand went out to steady him when the floor suddenly slid slightly under his feet. "I'm fine," he bit out, and yet he didn't push her supportive hand away. He sighed in aggravation, "I'm going to bed." He mentally kicked himself. It was stupid of him to drink that much, but he wasn't lying when he'd told Bulma he was stressed.

His foot had just landed on the second stair when that sweetly cursed voice reached his ears and sent quivers racing up his spine like a cold wind. "Vegeta..."

He didn't turn around. He swallowed and tilted his head down. "What do you want, Kakarrot?"

When the younger Saiyan did not reply, he chanced a look over his shoulder. Of course, he immediately regretted it. He should have kept walking. Goku stood directly in the middle of the doorframe, his entire front shadowed by the sharp lights behind him. The glare was further emphasized by the white of his shirt. And his eyes- oh, his eyes- shone like black fire despite the lowered lighting. Vegeta almost released a outward gasp of longing. The faintest of smiles crept onto Goku's face, enhancing the glitter in his eyes. "Do you wanna talk?"

"I want nothing to do with you," Vegeta replied carefully. His stomach churned. The damn alcohol just made everything worse.

Goku bared his teeth in a brief grin. "Aw, come on. Don't lie to me. Besides," he added, taking a half step forward, "I think you know just as well as I do what's going on here."

Vegeta rolled his eyes. Shaking his head, he turned away. "I don't know what you're talking about, Kakarrot. Go home." When a big, warm hand suddenly gripped his arm, every nerve in his body burst into flame. He turned swiftly, eyes widened. He looked up into Goku's eyes. "Kakarrot, you let go of me." His voice nearly failed.
