Jessica jumped out of her car and ran into the church with fifteen minutes to spare.
Running in she saw many familiar faces. There was no time to worry about them right now. Her goal was to find Sam as quickly as possible.
As she made her way to where she figured he would be, she was grabbed and pulled into a room.
"SARAH! Let go of me I don't have time for this!"
"You Cannot Do This, Jessica!"
"I Can and I Will!"
"Jessica, Sam is in love with Megan! Not you! MEGAN!"
"No! Sam loves me, dammit! We've loved each other since high school! We have a child together! We're meant to be now Let Me GO!"
"What if he doesn't feel the same way?"
"Well then at least I would have told him how I felt. I can't live with what if's." Jessica says before storming off.
Sarah sighs and lets her go. There was no talking to Jessica when she wanted something this badly.
"Jessica! Oh gosh, Sam will be so happy you're here!" Sam's brother says walking over to her.
"Steve! Where is he? I need to talk to him!"
"He's in that room right there but, we need to start in a few minutes. I'm sure you can talk to him after the wedding."
"No Steve, I need to speak to him right now!"
"Alright, well go ahead."
"Thank you!"
Jessica hurried to the room and opened the door.
Sam turned to the doorway and was so surprised to see Jessica standing there.
His eyes lit up. "Jessica! You came!" Sam walks over with a smile. "Oh gosh, I'm so happy you're here!" He says wrapping his arms around her.
"Sam I.. I had to come, I have something I need to..to tell you.."
Sam pulls away and looks into Jessica's eyes.
"You have no idea how relieved I am. Getting married without you here just wouldn't feel right."
"Sam-"
"Especially since it's because of you that Megan and I are even here today."
"Because of me?"
"Jessica, I didn't think I could ever love another woman but you. After we broke up, I was so lost.. I didn't know what to do with myself.
I didn't want to be with another woman, I didn't understand.. but now I do.. you and I as a couple was rough.. towards the end at least. But our friendship was made of gold. And because of you I met the woman I am going to spend the rest of my life with. Thank you so much, Jessie."
Jessica looked at him. She didn't blink. She didn't move. Her heart was broken. Here she is about to tell Sam she still loves him, and he's thanking her for breaking up with him.
"Now.. what did you want to tell me?" He smiles.
"Oh.. Uh.." Jessica looks down and tries to hold herself together.
"Sam.. I love you.. and.. I..
.. and I hope you have a beautiful life with Megan. You deserve so much happiness, Sammy." Jessica says, welling up with tears.
Sam smiles with so much happiness. He then hugs her once again.
He then looks her in the eyes and playfully pinches her nose. "I love you, Button."
Jessica smiled, but hearing him call her 'Button' made her so emotional.
"What are you crying for?" Sam smiles and wipes her tears.
"I'm just.. so happy for you. And I love you too, Sammy."
"Aw Jess." He smiles and holds her in his arms.
"Excuse me. Sorry to interrupt, but it's wedding time, Samuel."
Sam and Jessica turn to see the wedding director.
"Go on, Sam!" Jessica pats his arm.
".. Go get your girl." She smiles through her tears.
Sam smiles back and leaves the room.
Jessica lets her tears fall for a moment before leaving the room.
She stopped when she saw Sarah waiting for her.
Jessica paused for a brief moment before falling into Sarah's arms. "It's really over now, Sarah. He's in love with her.. I've missed my chance."
"No. You'll have your chance, honey. He just wasn't the one."
"Then why do I feel like this? I can't imagine loving someone more than I love him."
"Trust me.. there's someone else out there that you will love more than any man before."
