Reunion

Eden PoV

Jace and I finally untangled our bodies and gathered what was left of our clothing and got dressed both wearing ridiculously happy expressions on our faces.

"So did you enjoy training with me?" Jace cocked his head and questioned with a sly smirk on his face.

"No I hated every second couldn't you tell?" I retorted sticking my tongue out at him playfully.

Jace instantly reached out and pulled my back into his bare chest and snaked his arms around my waist.

"Is that why I'm covered in scratches and bite marks then? There I was thinking you were lost in a haze of lust" he nipped my earlobe in a sign of dominance that had a warm, fuzzy feeling swell in my heart.
I felt safe, protected by his strength.

"Hey, you weren't exactly playing nice either. I look like I've been attacked by a pack of hyenas"

" nope, just a very horny alpha wolf love. It's not my fault you push the boundaries of my control. But in all seriousness promise me something?" Jaces voice switched from flirty and light hearted to thick with emotion and concern.

"Anything" I twisted in his arms so that I was facing him and cupped his cheeks in my hands gazing into his beautiful blue eyes.

"Don't leave me again Eden. I can't survive without you. I need you" for someone so strong, an alpha to sound so vulnerable was a rarity. This was Jace the man opening up and sharing his deepest fears with me.

"Never, I'll never leave you I promise. I need you more than you could ever know. I love you Jace" my words were so full of truth that they caused tears to fill my eyes as I felt the extent of his fears, the pain I'd caused him through our mate bond.

I hated myself for hurting him.

But I meant what I said. I would never leave him. Nobody could tear us apart.

We held each other tightly and kissed softly with a new depth of affection that made my soul overflow with a sense of contentment I'd never felt before.

We linked hands and headed back to the pack house getting very knowing looks from the wolves that we past by. If it wasn't for the scratches, bite marks and hickeys that covered our bodies it was from the sated smirk Jace had plastered on his face.

From the moment we stepped foot on the house Jace's demeanour changed. His body stiffened and his smile dropped and was replaced by a harsh frown. I followed his eyes and smiled when I set eyes on a Blake who flashed a soft smile at me before looking back at Jace with an equally tense expression.

"Hey baby I missed you" Blake kissed my lips quickly and hugged me against his body staring over my shoulder at Jace.

Neither says a word but it was clear that the atmosphere had suddenly become extremely volatile.

"Hi, missed you too. Is everything okay?" I asked darting my focus between my two mates who still weren't saying a word but looked ready to kill each other.

Suddenly a group of strange people appeared from the kitchen chatting amongst themselves until they sensed the situation and fell silent.

They weren't wolves, vampires if I could take a guess but one seemed different somehow. She stood looking rather nervous towards the back of the group. Her dark brown hair sat in loose waves to her shoulders and her tanned skin gave her bright blue eyes the perfect canvas to beam from. She didn't quite look at Jace and fiddled with her fingers.

Another woman stepped forward slightly and focused her eyes directly forward in a strong, confident manner. Everything about her screamed those sexy, seductive vampire vibes.
