Eden PoV
For some reason I assumed I'd awaken in the safety of my own bed surrounded by familiar, precious things that would instantly offer me a sense of calm and security after such a crazy time. But what I got in reality was far from it. I landed hard on my feet, not prepared for the tough landing my ankle twisted and buckled . Luckily my quick reactions gave me time to regain my balance before I face planted in the concrete floor.
The air was filled with the scent of blood, both old and new. The unmistakable stench of death clogged my throat and I coughed hard to clear it. It was cold and damp down here, not a place you'd want to spend much time that was for sure.
I glanced around the place and took in row after row of silver prison cells that housed traitors, murderers and other evil people. They deserved to rot away for their crimes and pray to the goddess for a quick death.
But it wasn't them I was here for. I knew that the moment I realised what this place was. I'd landed down in the depths of the Silverhaven pack dungeon.
Monsters snarled at me and reached beyond the bars to grab at me despite the silver that burnt at their skin as it made contact. They were so desperate for release that they'd ignore the pain. Their voices were gruff as if they hadn't spoken to anyone in a long time and each word held an element of bitterness and resentment. But I knew nobody got put in here unless they didn't truly belong to be here.
Jace would never punish anyone so harshly unless he had a fucking good reason for it and I had no doubts about the way in which he carried out these types of things.
However there was one exception to that rule right now. There was one person down here that hadn't committed any crimes. Not that we knew of anyway. But he'd been out here for his own safety and for the safety of everyone that was left here on the pack territory.
Luckily he hadn't been put in the vile areas. There was no way Jace or Blake would have allowed that.
The main dungeon area housed long term offenders, but closer to the guards station there was a set of three separate cells that were used for less harmful offenders or short time sentences. Or a holding cell where a person could be kept securely contained for some reason.
As soon as they saw me the pair of guards stood up taller, puffed their chests out and nodded politely in acknowledgement but didn't say a word.
"I'm here for the vampire" I offered them a sweet smile, I batted my lashes at them and stepped right up to them.
"Luna, the alpha said he is to stay here until further notice " a stocky dark skinned and handsome man stated firmly.
"Consider this notice" I smiled brightly as I waved his keys up in front of me and he patted himself down in disbelief. "Trust me, if there is any trouble I'll take full responsibility for it with the alpha" as their Luna it was my job to not only step up to protect my pack but to show them that I wasn't a push over and I wouldn't be ruled by the alpha entirely.
No fucking chance.
"Marcus I need your help" Once I'd unlocked and entered the cell I found Marcus curled up on the tiny cut bed and wondered when the last time he'd fed was.
"Here drink this" he reached out hesitantly but grabbed the blood bag from me and greedily sucked it down which suggested to me that in the chaos of the last few days he had been neglected which wasn't fair to him.
"Get some more blood bags now!" I ordered the guard I'd stolen the keys from, he quickly did as he was told because my harsh tone didn't leave any room for negotiation.
