OLIVIA'S POV:
I texted Mattia, asking if I could come over, but there was no answer. I didn't want to intrude in on him, knowing he already hated me. But I had to let him know about the false soldier in his house. I stood up and threw on a jacket, deciding that I'd just go to the house and try smooth things over with him. But when I opened my front door, I was met with a familiar figure.
"Mar?"
He smiled and took a step back.
"Shit I'm sorry, I was just about to knock" he laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"No that's fine, come in" I said, stepping aside. But he shook his head and pointed towards his car.
"Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to go out? Maybe get your mind off everything?"
I considered the option. Mattia needed to know that there was a literal assassin in his house, but then I remembered the disrespect. And how he'd treated me like I was a piece of dirt. Yeah I lied a couple times, but he still took his opportunity and gave me a hard time for it.
"Sure" I said, stepping outside and closing the door behind me. Mar flashed me a smile and lead me to his car.
-
After driving for about an hour, Mar parked his car in front of a whole ass mountain.
"Are you gonna kill me or something?" I said, looking at how steep the mountain was. Mar laughed and got out the car.
"Just trust me" he said, opening the trunk. I got out the car and saw he was holding a picnic basket and my heart immediately melted.
"We're having a picnic?" I gushed, staring inside at the chocolate covered strawberries amongst the rest of the food. He took my hand and we walked over to a flight of stairs.
"We are, on a mountain" he chuckled as we walked up the stairs. It took us almost 20 minutes to get to the top, but when we did it was all worth it. I stared out at the breathtaking view.
"This is beautiful" I called out to Mar. I turned around to see that he'd set up a picnic blanket and taken all the contents of the basket out. It was picture perfect.
"Pretty, huh? This is my favourite spot" he said. I sat down on the blanket next to him.
"Oh, so you bring all your girl friends here?" I joked, raising an eyebrow.
"Nice try, West" he said, opening a bag of chips "but no, I've never bought anyone here, it's kinda like my safe space"
I stared at him thoughtfully, taking in all his features. I let my eyes roam freely over him, the way his dark curls sat perfectly atop his head, his deep brown eyes, and his perfectly chiseled jaw. If I didn't know any better, I'd have kissed him right there and then.
"So why'd you bring me here?"
He turned to look at me, tilting his head to the side. It was as though he wanted to tell me something, but he bit his tongue instead.
"I know you want to say something, say it" I urged.
He shook his head, a small smirk on his face.
"Have you tried the tacos yet? I made them myself" he said quickly, handing me one. I rolled my eyes, but took it anyway.
-
We stayed there for hours, until the sun was beginning to set. We'd finished most of the food, and Mar had set the basket aside.
"The sunset looks so much prettier from up here" I said, shivering slightly. Mar took off his jacket, wrapping it around my shoulders. I didn't even have to ask.
"But you'll be cold" I pouted, my hands gripping onto his leather jacket.
"That's what this is for" he said, reaching into the basket and pulling out another, fluffy blanket. This boy had everything. He laid the blanket over us both, and we huddled up together. He wrapped his arm around my waist, and I let my head rest on his shoulder.
"You never told me why you bought me here" I whispered, listening to his shallow breathing. He took a deep breath, and I felt his muscles tense up.
"I like you, West. I like you a lot"
I felt a weird sensation of butterflies appear in me as I looked up at him. His gaze flickered down to my lips, and without thinking I closed the gap between us.
When our lips met, maybe time stopped, but the flutters in my stomach had only increased. My heart started pounding in my chest as my knees got weaker, but I could only focus on how soft he felt against my mouth. How addicting the feeling was as he invaded all my senses. I pulled away for air the same time as he did, yet we still couldn't take our eyes off each other.
"That was.."
"Everything" he said, his eyes scanning my face. I felt my cheeks heating up as Mar looked at me with a smirk. This changed everything.
